| Translation - English Muscles, skeleton and joints
Muscles are contractile tissues that determine the motion of human body and the internal organs.
Skeleton is the internal structure made up by bones and cartilages. They protect and support the soft organs, tissues and other parts in the body. Calcium phosphate, embedded in collagen, a kind of protein, forms the minerals of bones. An average adult would have three-kilogram weights’ of bones with two quarters of minerals and one quarter of proteins.
Bones are very active. They need blood and basic nutrition, and they keep on decomposing and forming all through the life. This is what we call ‘bone turnover’. Same as other tissues and organs, bones can be infected. In fact, the major problems are osteomalacia (in adults, it is said to be related to the lack of Vitamin D) and osteoporosis.
The connection of two bones is a joint. Most of the joints of human body are able to move freely. People call them diarthrosis. They help us perform bending, stretching and some other movements.
Muscles enable the two ends of bones to approach and apart, while the cord-like extending part between muscles and bones are called tendons.
Ligaments are strong banding tissues. They form the joints by connecting bones. They stabilize the joints and keep the position of bones by limiting the scope of their movement.
