I have formal experience teaching Hmong language (verbal and written) at the university level. As a student, I co-taught a Hmong de-cal class at UC Berkeley. This class included reading, writing, and speaking in Hmong at various levels ranging from beginners to advanced. I also have experience interpreting English to/from Hmong in a variety of school, social and health-medical settings.

INTERPRETATION EXPERIENCE:

2004-Present. Freelance Translator. Proofreading and Editing: English to/from Hmong. Academic Glossaries (65,000+ words)

2000-2001. Hmong Cultural Liaison.
Summerbridge Program, Sacramento Country Day School. Sacramento, CA.

Responsibilities: Acted as liasion for Hmong-speaking parents during campus events and parent-teacher conferences.

2001. Algebra and Geometry Teacher in the Math Department.

2001. Research Assistant. Hypertension and Quality of Care Research Project for Hmong in Sacramento. Asian Health Program, Fresno, California and University of California, San Francisco.


2004-Assisted in research project with Thammasat University in a Hmong refugee camp in central Thailand.
