Bio
I am Hue Le, a senior majoring in Economics with minors in Mathematics and Japanese at Knox College, Illinois. I am writing to apply for the Vietnamese Translator/Interpreter position.
I was born in Vietnam, and I have lived in Vietnam for 18 years. I came to United States when I was 18 to start my college education. I have learned English for 10 years, and communicated in English for 3 years when I was studying in U.S. In addition, I have learned Japanese for 3 years, and I lived in Japan for 1 year for my off-campus study. I started translating books 3 years ago. The first one was a dental book; I translated it from English to Vietnamese for my Dad. I then translated an electricity project for my relative working at Electricity Vietnam. I find translating process very enjoyable. In Summer Break 2009, I hosted a group of American and Japanese students to visit Vietnam, and to learn about Vietnamese culture. This time I worked as an interpreter and explained Vietnamese culture to the students.
At college, I used to tutor an American friend with Vietnamese to prepare her for the Fulbright Fellowship program in Vietnam. In November, 2009, I started the fund-raising event called “$2 for Children” at my college. This is a fund-raising program that tries to help The Redemptorists of Denver Province on their campaign in Sapa, Vietnam. My Economics major with Mathematics/ Japanese minor provides me with a solid theoretical and analytical base. As a Vietnamese citizen, I have lived and studied in communities of very diverse cultures across Vietnam, Japan, and US. Through these experiences, I learned how to adapt quickly to new environments, communicate effectively with people from various backgrounds, and at the same time, make a real contribution to that diversity.
I am confident that my positive energy, commitment to excellence, willingness to learn and passion for the field will enable me to perfect your document translation. I look forward to working with you.
