HISTORY
Gucci’s Flora print finds its origin in a special order, on a request by Princess Grace of Monaco in 1966. This pattern was designed by the painter Vittorio Accornero as an exclusive tribute to the Princess’ beauty and elegance – a myriad of color featuring the four seasons’ most beautiful flowers on a white background. From its birth as a delicate and elegant pattern for a silk scarf, Flora met a success as great as immediate, soon expanding to other accessories and ready to wear.

Historien om Flora börjar med en prinsessa. 1966 gör den legendariska prinsessan Grace av Monaco en beställning hos Gucci av ett mönster som designas av målaren Vittorio Accerno. Mönstret – en myriad av färger framlyfta av vårens och sommarens allra vackraste blomster mot en kritvit bakgrund – är konstnärens hyllning till prinsessans skönhet och elegans. Floras succé var lika storartad som omedelbar och snart blommade mönstret - från början skapat att pryda en sidenscarf - också på andra accessoarer och kläder.

Over the years, Flora has become and remained, in its own right, one of the most exclusive and recognizable of Gucci’s signature motifs, long with the extremely symbolic red and green webbing, and motifs including, among others, the GG the horsebit, the bamboo and the crest The celebrated Flora print has been proposed over the years in different colours, and most recently, in a new black and white variation. A clean, graphic design complemented by a gold and black webbing used as a flanking detail, it is featured on the new Flora by Gucci fragrance, as well as on the latest collection of Gucci sunglasses.
