Spanish to English: La ley de viviendas General field: Law/Patents
Translation - English It is certainly becoming more and more common for lawyers to be dealing with the cases of clients who have duly signed private contracts for the purchase of residential accommodation off-plan on a medium to long-term basis where the method of payment consisted of advancing to the vendor approximately 25% of the purchase price with the rest due to be paid at the signing over of the deeds to the property upon completion of construction. At the moment these clients are anxious that the global economic slowdown which appears to be taking hold could end up affecting the Spanish property sector and that this could lead to developments not yet begun not being started and those under construction not being completed.

Translation - English An important contribution to the drive for bilateral trade management must also be made by the fact that the implementation phase of the CARICOM/Cuba Agreement signed in 2000 is drawing to a close; through this, a long list of products coming from the member countries will be able to enjoy tax free trade and in other cases, tariffs will be reduced on a phased basis.
Spanish to English: Clara Peeters General field: Art/Literary Detailed field: Art, Arts & Crafts, Painting
Translation - English In addition to painting professional pieces which were highly valued and sold through guild and professional networks; in addition to repeating subjects, using stencils and techniques which are obviously professional, the general impression created is that Clara Peeters had a studio. And that is our thinking because there are several paintings that bear her name but yet are inferior to the others, and also because there are paintings autographed by other painters who are clearly imitating hers. And at least that means that she was worthy of imitation so selling and having paintings sold as she did was her means of livelihood. But certainly it also means that there were several painters working in her studio and one could buy a Clara Peeters produced by such a painter, or rather we may say, of a slightly lower quality. This painting that you see on the left, which is in a museum in Tallinn, which is not in the exhibition, is one of the paintings, for example, that we may say shows a bird of prey, a sparrowhawk, which one senses is entirely the work of the artist’s hands. However, the one you see on its right, and there is a similar one appearing in the exhibition, the one on its right is in the exhibition, is a painting where, if you look at it very closely, there is a fineness of quality, a carefulness, above all the feeling that much more time has been devoted to painting the birds we see in the basket than the peregrine falcon and the partridge below. According to a friend of mine who is a falconer, the peregrine falcon has oversized talons – the one drawn here, very, very clearly. And the outline of the drawing that shows its plumage is also too diagrammatic; it looks very unnatural to a falconer. While the bird on the left is wonderfully well painted, the bird on the right looks very awkward. And the only way to explain the fact that the same artist produces these two types of paintings, is by assuming that she is doing so in collaboration, or even that she is allowing the market to paint them, excuse me, her studio to paint them, because even the paintings of inferior quality are autographed by her, by Clara Peeters. The painting below is one autographed by one Nicolas Cabe, an artist whom we know nothing of, by whom we only have this painting. But one has the feeling that just as he painted the peregrine falcon and the partridge below, then he is possibly the person who painted some of these animals and who worked in Clara Peeters’ studio involved in painting and doing parts of paintings or some types of paintings. This may seem strange, but since the XV century we have known many cases in Dutch painting where the main artist paints the face, another paints the clothes, another paints the landscape, there is a specialization, a way of working that is part of a long tradition since it is more than a 100 years old, so thinking that this woman is painting in this way is not so strange. What is certainly strange and I will address that in a moment, is that if we think of why this woman is painting a sparrowhawk or a falcon, the normal thing is to think that she is painting them for aristocratic clients, or clients who value this recreational activity of the aristocracy, of nobility with a long medieval tradition too. However, for people involved in that activity, the bird in the upper right part is not a bird that is lifelike. So, for whom was she painting? Well it is usual to think that she was painting it for someone who wanted to imitate the behaviour of those of noble birth, or who wanted to look like someone who, by displaying this painting in their home, enjoys social status, a position of distinction, perhaps higher than they do in reality. And that is important because one of the facts we try to find out when we talk about this painter is, as usual, for whom was she painting, who was receiving her paintings, for which people, for which social, economic and cultural group, and from where. I would say that paintings like the one you have in the upper right part, are those which show the lower status of Clara Peeters’ clientele. We may think that this is a class, of merchants perhaps, who wanted to imitate a certain type of aristocratic behaviour but without really realizing what they were exposing here - they wanted it to resemble a Mercedes perhaps, but in fact it did not resemble a Mercedes at all. On the other hand, you remember that of the six Clara Peeters’ paintings known to be documented in the XVII century, and only six are known, two are in Holland in anonymous collections, but four are in Madrid, two in King Felipe IV’s collection, which must have been created in 1666 the year after his death. Two of the four paintings that the Prado now has, and two others in the Marquis of Leganés’ collection in 1637. He was a collector who Rubens said in a letter was one of the great European collectors, and who also was Governor General of Milan, held very high political and military positions in Brussels, in the court of the archdukes, in the southern Low Countries. So we know that there were Clara Peeters’ paintings at the highest level of art collecting that existed in Europe at that time, and we know also that there were some studio paintings that were being sold and were being hung, apparently, in the homes of people who besides being familiar with a certain type of behaviour, wanted to imitate it to appear to be close to them. And this is good so we can place the social group and the people for whom these paintings were being painted.

Art. 8 In the Family Register all the documents regarding the events and circumstances set out by the Rules will be recorded gratuitously, immediately after these have been registered.
Civil Registry Rules
Art. 36 The Family Register begins by certifying a public marriage and contains successive pages reserved for recording changes in the economic arrangements of the marital home, the birth of the couple’s children and those adopted jointly by both parties, the death of the spouses and the annulment, divorce or separation of the marriage. –The Family Register will also be handed over to the parent or parents of a child born outside wedlock and to the person or persons who adopt a child. In this case, the marriage of the holders of the Register which may take place later, will be recorded. - Any event affecting parental authority and the death of children, if it occurs prior to the age of majority will be entered officially in the Register. – The registrations are in summary without the transcription of notes, and in the case of births the type of relationship to the parents will not be given. This can be rectified through subsequent registration.
Art.37. The Family Register will be delivered to the holders, or to persons authorized by them, immediately after the registration of the marriage in the ordinary Register, or unless they already have it, when a birth outside wedlock or an adoption is registered. –When the Register is handed over as a result of an adoption, cancellation will be required of the birth registration that appears in the earlier Family Register sent in this case, to the natural parents. If this earlier Register records only that birth registration the said Register will be cancelled.
Art.38. Whenever the delivery of the Register takes place, it will always be recorded beside the relevant marriage registration or, failing that, in any one of the birth registrations. –The spouses or the holder or holders of parental authority will always have the current Register. In case of loss or damage, they will obtain from the same Registry a duplicate in which the right registrations will be laid out. It will be stated in the duplicate that it replaces the original and after it is issued note will be taken of the relevant registrations from the Registry.

The English interpreter Atalah also appears in court.
Having been earlier informed of his legal rights, duties and responsibilities, he is asked to describe the events, which is the purpose of these proceedings. Swearing to tell the truth, he declares:
He is in Barcelona doing some sightseeing.
Around 7am he left the apartment on Mare de Deu del Pilar Street. He went down to buy water and all the time he was walking down the street he was being followed by the defendant, whom he did not know at all.
He was wearing a blue T-shirt and blue jeans and his hair was very short on the sides and longer on top; he was approximately 175 cm. tall and about 20 years old.
He followed him all the time and gave him the feeling that he was under the influence of some drug. As he felt uncomfortable with this situation he returned to the apartment and on reaching the door, while putting the key into the lock, the youth pushed him and despite his efforts to shove him away he hurt him on his lip which is cut on the inside.
Very quickly he grabbed him by the arm and took off his watch which is a pink gold Patek Philippe watch. He has the bill for the watch, the warranty and photos all of which he will provide as proof to this court. He noticed later that he was missing 300 euros in cash that he had in the back pocket of his trousers.
He ran after him trying to reach him but he disappeared suddenly. He saw the Police, explained the situation to them and got into the Police car in which they drove around the area where the events took place.
Other Police officers had arrested the youth whom he saw and identified with 100% certainty.
He is claiming for both his injuries and the watch and stolen money.
