Als Übersetzer verstehe ich mich als Mittler zwischen den Kulturen. Mir geht es darum sowohl sprachliche als auch kulturelle Unterschiede zu überbrücken. Konkret heißt das, nicht das Wort allein, sondern die Gesamtaussage eines Textes steht für mich im Mittelpunkt. Nur so können Texte als Ganzes zielgerichtet in einer anderen Sprache wiedergegeben werden, denn Übersetzung geht über die bloße Übertragung eines Wortes in eine andere Sprache hinaus.

As translators we are building bridges between cultures. To me, building these bridges is about more than focusing on the meaning of words and sentences. It is about grasping the meaning of a text in every single aspect. This means, to transfer a text from one language to another, I am not just looking for exact translations of single words, but also at the text in its entirety to fully understand its purpose and then convert it to another language and a different cultural context.
