About me

I have lived for five of the last eight years in Nuremberg and Hamburg with my German wife (who works with me on a part-time basis).

Living in Germany has given me an in-depth knowledge of the country’s institutions, culture and attitudes. The insight I have gained into German society through my wife's family has been invaluable for my professional development.

Specialisation:

Marketing & market research; business & finance; aviation; travel & tourism; architecture; politics; history.

Expertise beyond translating:

I have also worked for four years in various project-management roles in client-facing positions in the market-research industry. My most recent role, here in London, was as account manager for the BBC in the media department of GfK NOP, Germany's largest research company. Before that I worked for Ipsos Research in Schleswig-Holstein, where I was a project coordinator for the German market, liaising with clients from across Europe and North America.

Professional ethos:

I am a serious translator with little time for those who feel that offering translations at rock-bottom prices entitles them to submit second-rate work.

Collaboration:

If you share my ethos and work with English and German, I would be keen to refer clients to you on a quid-pro-quo basis during busy periods.

Finally, while I obviously have a bank account here in the UK, companies based in the Eurozone can make payments to my German bank account free of charge.
