A dual citizen, I am fluent in both English and Croatian, and work full time as a writer, translator, editor, teacher, spontaneous interpreter (for the mayor and investors from America) and professional tour guide.
I enjoy language very much and put my heart and soul into my work. I believe that dialogue and correct translation is essential in promoting good relations between people!
In America, I was a business proprietor with my own tax firm. I hold a Bachelors' Degree from the College of Notre Dame (renamed Notre Dame deNaMur University, a private Jesuit college). My university degree has been "nostrified" in my new home of Croatia, enabling me to apply for degree required job positions.
My clientele for international translation includes the Croatian government. I have edited texts for the highly regarded Acta Adriatica, a biannual scientific magazine published by IZOR, the Institute of Oceanography and Fishing in Split, Croatia. I edit the articles for errors in grammar and other inconsistencies (http://jadran.izor.hr/acta/). I have also worked for the Tourist Board in Komiža, a popular Dalmatian tourist destination (http://www.tz-komiza.hr/en/history.php).
Private clients include tour related information, documents, websites, and much more. American, British, Croatian, Indian, Russian and more.
For my friend Patricia Repanich, I translated 13 handwritten personal letters written over half a century before in "broken Croatian" into English which were an integral part of her book "As the Tree Fell" which was published in 2011 and available at Amazon.
As my writing work constantly increases I was finally forced to leave my former employment to devote myself to full time work. For a sample of my original writings, click on the link: http://eurocafeaulait.hubpages.com/
Kind regards,
Anastasia
