About me
Hello!

I'm Jen, and I have over 10 years' experience of working with words, as a copywriter, journalist, teacher and proofreader. I specialise in working with foreign language speakers and translators to bring education, marketing and academic texts up to native speaker standard.

I'm as British as bangers and mash, and grew up in the glorious New Forest. I graduated in 2006 from Clare College, Cambridge University where I studied English, specialising in linguistics and studying more languages than you can shake a stick at!* I went on to qualify as a journalist and as an advanced-level EFL teacher, before realising my true calling was as a writer and setting up my business, Jen Rouse Language Services.

My award-winning writing has been published in the US and the UK. Take a peek:

Live: Bill Callahan @ The Barbican (music review)

Visions of Joanna Newsom (book)

Lewes Chocolate Company (web design & copy)

When I'm not making your sentences sublime, you can find me knitting socks, baking beetroot cake, racing through novels at breakneck speed and jogging somewhat more sedately in the Sussex countryside.

If you need a writer with flair or an editor who cares, I'd love to talk. Come and visit me to learn more, or download my CV below!

(* Modern Demotic Greek, Modern French, Anglo-Norman, Middle French, Latin, Insular Latin and Old Norse... phew!)
