Medical and pharmaceutical translation

• I have close to 20 years first-hand experience of healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, Australia, Norway and United States (U.S. NCLEX-RN), and am optimally positioned to meet the specialist requirements of this area of translation/editing work.


• I will consider ANY medical or pharmaceutical translation/editing project, including patient notes, research articles, medical publications, summaries of product characteristics, package leaflets, medical insurance claims, PhD theses etc.


• I am familiar with the ICD codes and the EMEA templates and standard dosage forms.


• I have an extensive contact network within the medical and pharmaceutical translation community including membership of the ITI Network of Medical and Pharmaceutical Translators and Interpreters (ITI MedNet), the ATA medical division and several language-specific e-groups (Noreng, Norskjal, Dan_Eng, Swenterm and Sweng, to name a few).


• Project size is no problem: I have no upper limit in terms of word count, and am willing to work within a Trados (or other CAT tool) matrix and can provide details of our rates for repetitions/100% matches on request.

  • I have considerable experience with general/technical translation including employment contracts/legal documentation, annual reports, in-house magazines, tourism/marketing texts

  • I understand the complex nature of specialist/technical texts and outsource projects, where appropriate, to specialist, field-specific translators. All translations are revised/proofread in-house, unless otherwise agreed with the client.

  I use cutting-edge OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software and a Translation Environment Tool (TenT), which allows me to convert almost any document into electronic format (Word, PowerPoint, Excel etc.). This enables me to use translation memory in order to shorten deadlines and achieve optimum accuracy and consistency across projects.

  I believe that success in business is largely a question of a can-do attitude and accessibility. I take pride in being friendly and approachable and will try and find a quick and effective solution for any translation, revision or proofreading project. I have an "always-on" broadband Internet connection and emails are checked at least hourly during the day. All project enquiries are treated as urgent and whenever possible I will respond within one hour. You can also contact me via fax/phone/cellphone/SMS or Skype. I keep flexible and extended business hours; however, if you need to contact me outside these hours, please leave a message by email or Skype and I'll respond as soon as possible. We do use an auto-responder for emails outside our office hours, but we will respond promptly to all business emails at start of business on the following day.
