Active in Belgium and America. Our wide ranging areas of expertise include economics, fashion, urban revitalisation, art and social media.
Johan Westenburg is an economist living in Oostende, Belgium. Educated in the United States at Hampshire College and Vanderbilt University, Mr. Westenburg continues to pursue a lifelong interest in the creative endeavor and its value as a driver of economic development. In addition to a love of vernacular architecture, he is an ardent proponent of numeracy, community advocacy and cultural literacy. He is the translator of Hans Achterhuis' incisive critique of the global financial crisis of 2008, Making Money; the free market and utopia.
Machteld Schrameijer moved to New York City in 1977 with a degree in fashion from the Ecole de Couture de Charles Montaigne and a teacher's degree from the University of Amsterdam with certification in Dutch and English.
After a short stint as a tour-guide, she worked as a production assistant for Emile Fallaux (VPRO) and was Coosje van Bruggen's producer for the film, Schoolbus Yellow, Adirondack Green. Notable translations include an essay by Donald Kuspit, the Exhibition Catalogue Oldenburg's show at the Cologne Museum, and Claes Oldenburg: Mouse Museum Ray Gun Wing by Coosje Van Bruggen.
Since 1980, Ms. Schrameijer has had her own label, IOTA, and travelled extensively in the U.S.; selling her designs directly to the public at trade shows, art shows and luxury resorts.
Our formal training - in economics, linguistics, fashion and art - has given us the necessary formal background to provide our clients with unparalleled knowledge of the American vernacular and context. As voracious consumers of news and avid movie aficionados, we are highly qualified for subtitling, transcription, manuscript proofreading and general translation assignments.
