Wstęp:
U podłoża neuropatii jaskrowej leży apoptoza komórek zwojowych siatkówki (RGC), skutkująca zmianami patologicznymi w obrębie warstwy włókien nerwowych. Część patomechanizmów wyzwalających ten typ „zaprogramowanej” śmierci komórki udało się poznać, są to m.in. niedotlenienie, wzrost ciśnienia wewnątrzgałkowego, spadek stężenia BDNF w komórkach, lokalny wzrost stężenia glutaminianu, a cześć z nich nadal pozostaje nieznana. Końcowym efektem tych procesów jest utrata populacji RGC, wyjściowo liczącej 1.2-1.4 mln. komórek. Degeneracji komórek zwojowych towarzyszy zanik ich aksonów, tworzących w siatkówce warstwę włókien nerwowych. W początkowym stadium włókna tracą równoległy przebieg, stając się strukturą mniej uporządkowaną, co skutkuje w badaniach obrazowych zmianą polaryzacji światła, przechodzącego przez te warstwę. W następnym etapie cała warstwa zmniejsza swoja grubość, co także widoczne jest w badaniach obrazowych - jako ubytki sektorowe lub rozlane warstwy włókien nerwowych siatkówki.
Podstawą wczesnej diagnostyki jaskry jest jak najwcześniejsze wykrycie zmian patologicznych (morfologicznych), zanim w kaskadzie neuropatii jaskrowej pojawią się kolejne, m. in. funkcjonalne uszkodzenia pola widzenia pod postacią jego początkowo względnych, a następnie bezwzględnych ubytków, wpływających na funkcjonowanie chorego.
Ostatnio w literaturze pojawiają się także doniesienia o możliwych wspólnych elementach w patomechanizmie uszkodzenia komórek zwojowych, tworzących włókna nerwu wzrokowego w jaskrze i stwardnieniu rozsianym (SM). Z tego powodu celowe wydaje się testowanie metod pomiaru parametrów warstwy włókien nerwowych także pod kątem ich zastosowania w diagnostyce i monitorowaniu SM, zwłaszcza gdy towarzyszą mu zapalenia pozagałkowe nerwu II. Takie prace są obecnie prowadzone przez zespół badawczy naszej Kliniki.
Do wczesnej diagnostyki zmian patologicznych w obrębie warstwy włókien nerwowych wprowadzono w ostatnich latach dwa rodzaje urządzeń: skaningowe polarymetry laserowe (GDx) oraz optyczne tomografy koherentne (OCT).
Metodą starszą, która zadomowiła się juz w diagnostyce jaskry, jest polarymetria laserowa GDx. Badanie polega na wprowadzeniu do oka światła z diody laserowej, spolaryzowanego w dwóch prostopadłych do siebie płaszczyznach. Te dwie spolaryzowane wiązki przechodzą następnie przez siatkówkę. Z powodu specyficznej, tubularnej budowy warstwy włókien nerwowych, o której była mowa powyżej, każda z dwóch wiązek przechodzi przez tę warstwę z nieco inną prędkością – im bardziej układ włókienek „zgadza się” z kierunkiem propagacji fali, tym przechodzi ona szybciej. Po odbiciu światła od nabłonka barwnikowego, wraca ono do detektora, po drodze przenikając ponownie przez w.w.n. i cały proces się powtarza. Zarejestrowane przez aparat wzajemne opóźnienie dwóch składowych światła spolaryzowanego jest przeliczane na grubość warstwy włókien nerwowych, wyrażoną w mikrometrach (tzw. „polarimetric micrometers” – ponieważ parametr ten mówi także o stopniu uporządkowania włókien, zanim pojawi się zmiana w grubości całej warstwy). Badanie dokonywane jest w elipsoidalnym pasie, biegnącym wokół tarczy nerwu II. W najnowszych modelach aparatu GDx pokonano szereg problemów pomiarowych, wynikających z faktu, że inne struktury oka, mające cechę tzw. dwójłomności (rogówka, twardówka) także mogą generować zmiany w prędkości przechodzenia wiązek światła laserowego, będące artefaktami w badaniu.
Optyczna koherentna tomografia (OCT) jest metodą laserowego obrazowania skaningowego, wprowadzoną początkowo głównie z myślą o uwidocznieniu przekroju podłużnego siatkówki w różnych jej stanach chorobowych, głównie dotyczących plamki żółtej. Dotychczas wykorzystywaną wersję tomografu, gdzie pomiar oparty jest na tzw. domenie czasowej (Time-Domain, TD-OCT) obecnie coraz częściej zastępuje się wersją opartą na tzw. domenie przestrzennej (Spectral Domain - SOCT). W analizie fali światła laserowego powracającego z siatkówki do detektora system wirujących luster zapewniających interferencje fali badanej i fali odniesienia (TD-OCT) zastąpiono nieruchomych spektrometrem (SOCT), analizującym całe widmo światła, które każda z warstw siatkówki odbija, pochłania i rozprasza w inny sposób. Obrazy przekrojów podłużnych kolejnych warstw uzyskiwane są z bardzo wysoką rozdzielczością, sięgającą nawet 4-5 mikrometrów.
W ostatnich latach w wielu z aparatów OCT wprowadzono opcjonalną możliwość pomiaru warstwy włókien nerwowych siatkówki, jako dodatkowy tzw. „moduł jaskrowy”. Aparat po wyróżnieniu warstwy włókien nerwowych mierzy jej grubość w całym okienku pomiarowym, jak również, podobnie do badania GDx, w elipsie okrężnie wokół tarczy nerwu II. Głównym problemem w przypadku tego typu badania w.w.n. bywają artefakty, wynikające z faktu, ze warstwa ta leży powierzchownie, w pobliżu styku szklistkowo-siatkowkowego i różnego rodzaju „nierówności’ (naczynia, przyleganie, trakcje, zagęszczenia ciała szklistego, błony nasiatkówkowe) mogą generować błędy. Błędy mogą też wynikać z powodu mylnego określenia granicy zewnętrznej w.w.n. z powodu np. obniżonej przezierności ośrodków optycznych.
Istnieją wciąż dyskusje, który z powyższych aparatów diagnostycznych w sposób wierniejszy odwzorowuje rzeczywisty obraz warstwy włókien nerwowych i który w związku z tym będzie miał pierwszeństwo w wykrywaniu najwcześniejszych zmian morfologicznych, charakterystycznych dla jaskry nadciśnienia ocznego czy jaskry preperymetrycznej oraz innych chorób, którym towarzyszy neuropatia nerwu II, jak stwardnienie rozsiane.

Introduction:
Apoptosis of retinal ganglion cells (RGC) underlies glaucomatous neuropathy what results in pathologic changes of the nerve fibre layer. Some pathomechanisms triggering this type of 'programmed' cell death are recognized: hypoxia, increase of intraocular pressure, decrease of BDNF concentration in cells, local increase of glutamate concentration. The final effect of these processes is the loss of RGC population, with its initial number being 1.2-1.4 mil. cells. The degeneration of RGC is accompanied by the atrophy of their axons which create the nerve fibre layer in retina. In its incipiency, fibres are becoming less parallel and form a less organized structure which, in imaging examination, results in polarization of the light passing through such layer. In further stadium, the whole layer decreases in thickness which is also visible in imaging examination as sectorial defects or spilled layers of retinal nerve fibres.
The basis of early diagnosis of glaucoma is the earliest detection of pathologic (morphologic) changes, before other changes, (i.a. functional damage of visual field, initially as relative and further as absolute defects), appear in the cascade of glaucomatous neuropathy.
Recently, reports of common elements between the pathomechanism of the damage of ganglion cells (which form the fibres of the optic nerve in glaucoma) and multiple sclerosis have appeared in literature. Due to this, it seems advisable to test the methods of measuring parameters of nerve fibre layer as means of diagnosis and monitoring of multiple sclerosis, especially when it is accompanied by retrobulbar optic neuritis. Such tests are currently carried out by the research team of our Clinic.
In recent years, two types of devices were introduced to the early diagnosis of pathologic changes of nerve fibre layer: scanning laser polarimeter (GDx) and optical coherence tomographs (OCT).
The older method, already common in the diagnosis of glaucoma, is the laser scanning polarimetry GDx. During the examination, light emitting from a laser diode and polarized in two perpendicular surfaces is introduced into the eye. Next, these two polarized beams pass through the retina. Because of the idiosyncratic, tubular structure of the nerve fibre layer, each of those beams passes through this layer at a slightly different velocity - the more 'accordant' the configuration of layers is with the direction of wave propagation, the faster this wave passes through. After the light is reflected off pigment epithelium, it returns to the detector, again passing through nerve fibre layer and the whole process repeats. Mutual delay of the two components of the polarized light registered by the device is converted to the thickness of nerve fibre layer in micrometers (so-called 'polarimetric micrometers' because this parameter also describes the level of arrangement of layers, before the change of thickness of the whole layer appears) The examination is performed in the ellipsoidal belt around the optic disc. In the state-of-the-art GDx devices several measurement issues have been overcome. These issues stem from the fact that other structures of the eye possessing the feature of birefringence (cornea, sclera) can also generate changes in the velocity at which laser beams pass through and which appear as artefacts in the examination.
Optical coherence tomography is a method of laser scanning imaging, initially introduced for displaying the longitudinal section of retina in different condition, usually concerning macula. The currently used version of the tomograph, where measurements are based on Time-Domain (TD-OCT) is being gradually replaced by a newer one, based on Spectral Domain (SOCT). In the analysis of the laser wave reflected off retina to a detector, a system of rotating mirrors providing interference for the wave under examination and the reference wave (TD-OCT) was replaced by a static spectrometer (SOCT) which analyses the entire light spectrum reflected, absorbed and scattered by each layer of retina in a different manner. Images of longitudinal sections of consecutive layers are in very high resolution, even up to 4-5 micrometers.
In recent years, many OCT devices were fitted with and additional glaucoma module, enabling a possibility of measuring the retinal nerve fibre layer. The device, after distinguishing the nerve fibre layer, measures its thickness in the entire measurement window and, similarly to GDx examination, in the ellipse around the optic nerve. The major issue of this type of examination of nerve fibre layer are artefacts, as this layer lies superficially, near the vitreoretinal junction and different types of unevennesses (vessels, adhesion, tractions, condensation of vitreous humour, epiretinal membranes) can generate errors. Such errors can be a result of an erroneous determination of the nerve fibre layer's external boundary, which may be a result of e.g. lowered clarity of optical media.
It is still disputed which of the above mentioned devices reflects the actual image of the nerve fibre layer more faithfully and which will have the privilege in detecting the earliest morphological changes specific for ocular hypertensive glaucoma, preperimetric glaucoma or other diseases accompanied by the neuropathy of optic nerve e.g. multiple sclerosis.

DESCENDENT - spotkanie ze światem
Wszystkie osie horoskopu są tak samo istotnej każda z nich ma swoje symboliczne znaczenie. Niestety, nie do wszystkich osi przywiązujemy taką samą wagę podczas interpretacji, bo ascendent i medium coeli wydają się działać w sposób bardziej wyrazisty. Jednak jeśli przyjrzymy się dokładniej imum coeli i descendentowi, wtedy będziemy musieli zwrócić uwagę na rolę naszego pochodzenia i wpływu, jaki wywierają na nas inni ludzie. Nie żyjemy w próżni! Ascendent i medium coeli mówią nam o tym, dokąd chcemy dojść, ale descendent i imum coeli wskażą, czy otrzymamy wsparcie dla realizacji naszych ambicji i spełnienia marzeń.
Pozioma oś horoskopu
Aby poprawnie wyrysować osie horoskop u, musimy znać czas i miejsce wydarzenia, dla którego obliczamy horoskop. Ascendent jest punktem wschodu w horoskopie, a descendent punktem zachodu - choć definicji tych punktów można ułożyć kilka. Oś pomiędzy ascendentem a descendentem dzieli horoskop na dwie części: górną i dolną, zwane też dzienną i nocną. Gdy w horoskopie Słońce przebywa pod osią ascendent – descendent, oznacza to, że horoskop wyrysowany jest na godziny nocne, a gdy Słońce jest na górze horoskopu, oznacza to, że był wtedy dzień.
Ascendent
Ascendent, a więc punkt wskazujący wschód, symbolizuje pierwszy oddech i życiowy start, a także początek wszystkiego, co zawiera nasz horoskop. Ta chwila nadała bieg naszemu horoskopowi. Ascendent jest jednocześnie wierzchołkiem I domu w horoskopie. Przez całą dobę okrąży 360 stopni zodiaku, a więc przejdzie przez wszystkie 12 znak ów — podobnie jak jego punkt opozycyjny, czyli descendent.
Ascendent opisuje wygląd, predyspozycje, skłonności i określa rodzaj osobistej energii najbardziej charakterystycznej dla danej osoby. Jako punkt wschodu ascendent wyobraża to, jacy jesteśmy wobec siebie samych. Kiedy działamy instynktownie, impulsywnie, bez zastanowienia, wtedy najczęściej wyrażamy energię znaku i stopnia naszego ascendentu. Sposób bycia i działania osoby zabarwiać będą też znak i aspekty, w którym znajduje się władca ascendentu, zwany władcą horoskopu.

Na przykład, gdy ktoś ma ascendent w znak u Barana, działa szybko, ale może być zupełnie inaczej, gdy Saturn znajduje się w koniunkcji do ascendentu. Ilustruje to poniższy przykład.

W horoskopie Margaret Thatcher, byłej premier Wielkiej Brytanii, ascendent znajduje się w znaku Skorpiona. Ten znak, gdy wschodzi na ascendencie, wskazuje na wielką cierpliwość, zdolność do koncentracji na obranych celach życiowych, umiejętność wykorzystania cudzych słabości, a także na pewną skrytość charakteru. Układ Mars — Saturn — Pluton sprawił, że Thatcher w swoich działaniach była bezlitosna, niezwykle skuteczna, ale też niezdolna do wycofania się z raz podjętych decyzji. Żelazna Dama to idealne określenie dla kogoś, kto żyje pod wpływem tej kombinacji planet. Thatcher nie wahała się walczyć nawet z Argentyną o skaliste Falklandy!

The Descendant - a rendezvous with the World.
All the axes of chart are equally important and each one of them has its own symbolic meaning. Unfortunately, during the interpretation we do not attach the same importance to all of them because the ascendant and medium coeli seem to act in a more distinct fashion. However, if we take a closer look at the imum coeli and the descendant, we will have to pay more attention to the role of our background and the influence others exert on us. We don't live in a vacuum! The ascendant and medium coeli tell us about what we want to achieve but the descendant and imum coeli will show whether we will receive support for realizing our dreams and ambitions.
The horizontal axis of the chart
To correctly draw the axes of the chart, we need to know the time and place of the event for which we calculate the chart. The ascendant is the eastern point of the chart and the descendant is the western point - although there are several different definitions possible. The axis between the ascendant and the descendant divides the chart into two parts: upper and lower, also known as the diurnal and nocturnal parts. When the Sun in the chart is under the ascendant - descendant axis, it means that the chart was drawn for nighttime and when the Sun is on the top of the chart, it means it was daytime.
The Ascendant
The ascendant, the point indicating east, symbolizes the first breath and the start of life and also the beginning of everything that our chart includes. This moment gave start to our chart. The ascendant is, at the same time, the cusp of the 1st house in the chart. In a day it will cover 360 degrees of the zodiac, so it will go through all the 12 signs - much like his opposing point, the descendant.The ascendant describes the appearance, abilities, aptitudes and determines the type of personal energy most typical for a given individual. As an eastern point, the ascendant represents how we treat ourselves. When we act instinctively, impulsively, without thinking, we usually express the energy of the sign and the degree of our ascendant. A person's demeanour will also be influenced by the sign and the aspect in which the ruler of the ascendant (also called the ruler of the chart) is.
Also, if a planet is in an aspect to the ascendant, it will directly influence our expression of these energies and if we have an exact aspect, we have to take it into consideration while interpreting. Zwyrodnienie plamki związane z wiekiem (ang. AMD – Age-related Macular Degeneration) jest najczęstszą przyczyną praktycznej ślepoty u osób powyżej 50 roku życia w krajach wysokorozwiniętych. Wysiękowa postać tej choroby, której istotą jest rozwój neowaskularyzacji naczyniówkowej (ang. CNV – Choroidal Neovascularisation), prowadzącej w ostatecznym etapie do powstania blizny, występuje u 10-20% dotkniętych nią osób, natomiast odpowiada ona za 80-90% przypadków znacznego pogorszenia ostrości wzroku w jej przebiegu.
Czynnik wzrostu śródbłonka naczyń (ang. VEGF – Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor) jest białkowym mediatorem, stymulującym angiogenezę głównie w warunkach niedotlenienia (Ferrara 1,2). Typ VEGF-A stanowi pierwotny sygnał dla rozwoju neowaskularyzacji naczyniówkowej w przebiegu wysiękowej postaci AMD (Witmer). Obecność VEGF-A stwierdzono w błonach CNV oraz wyryto zwiększone jego stężenie w ciele szklistym u pacjentów z wysiękową postacią AMD (Witmer, Ferrara 1). Nie jest jednak pewne, czy w przypadku tej choroby czynnikiem, stymulującym wzmożoną syntezę VEGF-A jest niedotlenienie. Ostatnio podkreśla się rolę procesu zapalnego w etiopatogenezie AMD i możliwe, że za wzmożoną ekspresję VEGF-A odpowiadają: aktywacja dopełniacza i produkcja cytokin prozapalnych, wywoływane przez druzy w plamce (Ferrara 1).
W konsekwencji badań nad rolą VEGF-A w patogenezie wysiękowej postaci AMD wykazano, że inhibitory VEGF-A podane doszklistkowo hamują eksperymentalnie wywołaną neowaskularyzację naczyniówkową u zwierząt doświadczalnych (Krzystolik). Wprowadzenie leków, blokujących VEGF-A w postaci iniekcji doszklistowych stanowiło istotny postęp w leczeniu wysiękowej postaci AMD. Obecnie wśród nich najszersze zastosowanie kliniczne znajdują dwa preparaty: Lucenits (ranibizumab) i Avastin (bevacizumab). Lucentis stanowi fragment Fab (ang. antibody binding fragment - fragment wiążacy antygen) rekombinowanego, humanizowanego przeciwciała monoklonalnego, który blokuje wszystkie izoformy VEGF-A (Schmidt, Chakravarthy, Stankiewicz). Lek ten został zatwierdzony do leczenia wysiękowej postaci AMD (Smidt, Chakr. Stank.). Jego wysoką skuteczność kliniczną, związaną nie tylko ze stabilizacją, lecz również poprawę ostrości wzroku w leczeniu wszystkich rodzajów błon CNV w przebiegu AMD wykazały szczególnie wieloośrodkowe, randomizowane badania kliniczne MARINA i ANCHOR (Rosenfeld, Brown). Avastin jest pełnym, rekombinowanym, humanizowanym przeciwciałem monoklonalnym, które również blokuje wszystkie izoformy VEGF-A (Schmidt, Chakravarthy, Stank.). Ponieważ domena Fab obu leków różni się tylko 6 aminokwasami (Ferrara 1), istnieją przesłanki, że mogą one mieć podobną skuteczność kliniczną w terapii AMD. Zachęcające wyniki wieloośrodkowych badań klinicznych nad Lucentisem w połączeniu z wysokimi kosztami leczenia tym preparatem spowodowały, że jest Avastin jest stosowany jako alternatywa tej terapii, na zasadzie „poza wskazaniami” („off-label”), jako że do tej pory nie został on zatwierdzony do leczenia AMD (Schmidt, Chakravarthy, Stank.).

Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is the leading cause of practical blindness in people over 50 years of age in highly developed countries. Exudative form of this disease, which substance is the development of choroidal neovascularisation (CNV), leads in its final stage to scar formation. It occurs in 10-20% of people affected but is responsible for 80-90% of cases of severe degeneration of visual acuity during its progress.
Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) is a protein mediator, stimulating angiogenesis primarily in hypoxic circumstances (Ferrara 1,2). VEGF-A type is the primary signal for the development of CNV in the course of exudative AMD (Witmer) The presence of VEGF-A has been observed in CNV membranes, and its increased concentration has been discovered in the vitreous humour of patients with exudative AMD (Witmer, Ferrara 1). However, it is uncertain whether the factor that stimulates the increased synthesis of VEGF-A in the case of this disease, is hypoxia. Recently, the role of the inflammatory process in the etiopathogenesis of AMD has been emphasized and it is possible that the increased expression of VEGF-A is a result of: complement activation and the production of proinflammatory cytokines, caused by macular drusen.
As a consequence of studies into the role of VEGF-A in the pathogenesis of the exudative AMD, it was found that the VEGF-A inhibitors administered intravitreally inhibit experimentally caused CNV in laboratory animals (Krzystolik) Introduction of drugs blocking VEGF-A through intravitreal injections was a major advancement in the treatment of exudative AMD. Currently, among these drugs, two have the widest clinical use: Lucentis (ranibizumab) and Avastin (bevacizumab) Lucentis is a Fab fragment (antibody binding fragment), a recombinant, humanised, monoclonal antibody which blocks all isoforms of VEGF-A (Schmidt, Chakravarthy, Stankiewicz). Its high clinical efficacy, not only related to stabilising but also improving visual acuity in the treatment of all types of CNV membranes in the course of AMD, has been proved by multicentre, randomized clinical trials MARINA and ANCHOR (Rosenfeld, Brown) Avastin is a full, recombinant, humanised monoclonal antibody which also blocks all isoforms of VEGF-A (Schmidt, Chakravarthy, Stankiewicz). Because the Fab domain of both drugs differs only by 6 amino acids (Ferrara 1), there are presumptions that they can have a similar clinical efficacy in the treatment of AMD. Encouraging results of multicentre clinical trials into Lucentis, in connection with high costs of treatment with this drug, caused Avastin to be used as an off-label alternative, because of not being approved for treatment of AMD yet (Schmidt, Chakravarthy, Stankiewicz).

How to interpret solar return charts part 1
Birthday is a unique moment of the year. According to astrologers, it's the turning over of a new leaf, a new personal year. On that day the planets provide us with a new deal of energy which will serve and influence us until next birthday.
To see what will happen to us in the new personal year, we cast a solar return chart for ourselves. Despite appearances, it's a very difficult technique, requiring numerous astrological skills and years of practice, but I encourage even beginning astrologers to try, as nothing will teach us more than trying all the astrological theories and techniques on ourselves. The solar return is a special type of chart created each year, often under several different names: birthday chart, yearly chart, chart calculated for the exact moment when the Sun returns to its natal position and also sun or solar chart.
When to celebrate birthday?
The difference between the calendar and astrological birth is that the astrologers celebrate birthday on the day, hour and minute the Sun returns to the exact same place in the zodiac in which it was at the moment of our birth.
For example, if somebody was born in Warsaw on 22nd March 1990 at 1.00 AM, when the Sun was in 1 degree 06 minutes of the sign of Aries then the Sun returns each year to the same location but it doesn't have to occur at the same time and date. For example, in 2010 it happened a day earlier, on 21st March at 9.12 PM. It’s clear that there is a difference between annual astrological dates of birth, which can range from several hours up to one day! This happens because the Sun wanders across the sky for 365 (or 366 days in leap years) and the zodiac has only 360 degrees! During summer, the Sun moves slower and daily covers 1 degree 1 minute, while in winter it speeds up and covers averagely 57 minutes of arc, a little less than a degree.
Alan Leo in his ‘Complete Dictionary of Astrology’ provides a different method, apart from the classic one mentioned by me, of casting solar return charts. We calculate the chart exactly for the moment when we were born which is for the same day, month, hour and place each year. The axes of the solar return are then coinciding with the axes of our natal chart. Interpretacja pozycji Księżyca w horoskopie urodzeniowym jest kluczem do zrozumienia postawy życiowej, jaką przyjmuje właściciel horoskopu. Słońce i ascendent mówią nam o sposobie działania i opinii, jaką mamy na swój temat. Księżyc dotyczy spraw bardziej ulotnych, ale nie mniej istotnych. Określa typ naszej emocjonalności, wskazuje na poziom naszego zaufania do siebie i świata.
Klasyczne znaczenia
Według dawnej astrologii Księżyc włada wszystkim tym, co osobiste i codzienne – od wyglądu zewnętrznego po usposobienie. Opisuje to, czego nie możemy kontrolować i co trudno nam świadomie zmienić, a co wywiera wpływ na nasze poglądy i zachowanie. Możemy na przykład być świetnym mówcą i mądrym człowiekiem, bo mamy doskonale postawione Słońce lub Merkurego, ale jednocześnie być zrzędliwi i lękliwi, bo Księżyc w naszym horoskopie odbiera trudne aspekty.
Dzisiaj mówimy, że Księżyc opisuje naszą podświadomość, chociaż psychologowie nadal spierają się, co dokładnie znaczy ten termin. W języku astrologii Księżyc to główny władca naszych instynktów, wspomnień i wyuczonych od najwcześniejszego dzieciństwa zachowań. Dlatego mawia się, że Księżyc to nasze wewnętrzne dziecko, bo przemawia do nas obrazami, nastrojami, emocjami. Od pozycji Księżyca zależy, czy i jak osiągniemy w życiu emocjonalne zadowolenie i spokój.

Tak jednak w życiu jest, że nie chodzi o ilość, ale o jakość. Więc choć Księżyc jest najmniejszy, to jednocześnie zajmuje najwięcej miejsca na niebie, bo jest najbliżej Ziemi. W jednym znaku zodiaku przebywa przez nieco ponad dwa dni (średni dzienny przebieg to 13º i 10´), a obiega cały zodiak w 28 dni. W głębszym ezoterycznym sensie ma to wiele wspólnego z Saturnem, który obiega zodiak w 29,5 roku i dla dawnych astrologów był najdalszą znaną planetą. Księżyc włada Rakiem, a Saturn Koziorożcem, a więc znakami, które są do siebie w opozycji. To wskazówka, dlaczego tak trudno nam utrzymać równowagę między zasadami, jakimi musimy się w życiu kierować, a naszymi emocjami i wyobraźnią, które nie poddają się żadnej kontroli. Księżyc w naszym horoskopie wskazuje więc na wszystko to, co z natury jest przeciwne symbolice Saturna, czyli dzieciństwo, opiekę, swobodę, zaufanie, bezkres, zmienność, radość, bliskość, więzi emocjonalne, wybaczenie, intuicję, zaspokajanie zachcianek, pamięć.
Słońce podejmuje świadome decyzje, a Księżyc jest z tego zadowolony lub nie. Wszyscy znamy osoby, które podejmują racjonalne i słuszne wybory, a potem wydają się same sobie rzucać kłody pod nogi i sabotują własne przedsięwzięcia, bo w głębi serca nie chciały pewnych decyzji podjąć. Gdy robimy coś wbrew sobie, działamy wbrew Księżycowi w naszym horoskopie. Z drugiej jednak strony, Księżyc nie zawsze ma ochotę na pracę lub obowiązki i bez świadomej decyzji Słońca do niczego byśmy w życiu nie doszli. Dlatego Słońce, Księżyc i ascendent są najważniejszymi elementami horoskopu, bo Słońce to wola, Księżyc to emocje, a ascendent to działanie. Aby lepiej uchwycić różnicę między działaniem Słońca i Księżyca, popatrzmy na horoskop Księżnej Diany. Słońce i retrogradujący Merkury w znaku Raka w VII domu wskazują, że świadomie chciała wypełniać dworskie obowiązki i odgrywać rolę dobrze ułożonej żony, ale Księżyc w znaku Wodnika w II domu wyrywał się na wolność. Problemy emocjonalne Diany manifestowały się jako bulimia i kompulsywne zakupy, co odpowiada charakterystyce II domu (odżywianie i dobra materialne). The Moon as the soul of the horoscope.
The interpretation of Moon's position in the natal chart is the key to understanding the chart owner's attitude towards life. The Sun and the ascendant tell us about our way of acting and what we think about ourselves. The Moon concerns matters somewhat elusive, yet no less important. She determines the type of our emotionality, indicates our confidence in ourselves and the world.
Classical meanings
According to the old astrology, the Moon is the ruler of all that is personal and mundane - from appearance to disposition. She describes what we cannot control and what is difficult to change consciously, yet what influences our views and behaviour. For example, one can be a great speaker and a wise man because of a perfectly placed Sun or Mercury but can be grumpy and fearful at the same time, because the Moon is receiving difficult aspects.
Today we say that the Moon describes our subconsciousness, although psychologists still argue over what exactly this term means. In the language of astrology, the Moon is the main ruler of our instincts, memories and behaviours learned from our earliest childhood. It is the major impulse to fulfil our emotional needs, which rarely acts directly and does not use a logical language. This is why some say that the Moon is our inner child, as she speaks to us with images, moods and emotions. It depends on the Moons position how, and if, we achieve our emotional satisfaction and tranquillity in life.
The interpretation of the natal chart starts from the Sun and the ascendant, which tell us about how to act. Usually people quickly recognize themselves in an image drawn by the sign of the ascendant and the position of Sun in a sign and house. The Sun determines the way of acting, the ascendant the decision-making process and the Moon the way of experiencing emotions. Generally, it is immediately apparent how the Sun and ascendant influence a given person. This rule is not always true for the Moon, which influence may be more subtle - but not necessarily weaker. For example, when we see that someone has the Sun in Gemini, we can assume that he or she will be rather talkative and outgoing. This may also be true when one has the Moon in Gemini, but such a person might only like the company of sociable people while being rather shy and sitting unnoticeably in the corner
Moon - the opponent of Sun and Saturn
The Moon is the Earth's satellite and in terms of real weight - the smallest object astrologers take into consideration while interpreting charts. However, it is not all about quantity but rather quality. The Moon might be the smallest but she takes up most of the space on the sky because of being closest to Earth. She stays in one sign for slightly more than two days (On average, the Moon covers 13º and 10´ per day) and covers the entire zodiac in 28 days. In a deeper esoteric sense this has much to do with Saturn, which covers the zodiac in 29.5 years and for the astrologers in the past it was the farthest known planet. The Moon rules the Cancer, the Saturn rules the Capricorn, so both are opposing signs. This shows why it is so difficult to maintain balance between rules we must adhere to in life, and our emotions and imagination which do not easily succumb to any form of control. The Moon in our chart signifies therefore, all that is inherently opposing the symbolism of Saturn, that is childhood, care, freedom, trust, boundlessness, diversity, joy, closeness, emotional ties, forgiveness, intuition, fulfilment of whims and remembrance.
The Sun makes conscious decisions and the Moon is either happy about it or not. We all know people who make reasonable and rational choices, only to put spokes in their wheels and sabotage their own undertakings, as deep at heart they did not want to make certain decisions. When we do something against ourselves, we act against the Moon in our chart On the other hand however, the Moon does not always have the mood for work or other duties, and without a conscious decision of the Sun we wouldn't achieve anything in life. This is why the Sun, the Moon and the ascendant are the key elements of the chart, because the Sun is will, the Moon is emotions and the ascendant is action. It is important to keep even a fragile balance between these elements. For this reason I cannot agree with some astrologers who teach that the Sun is more important in a man's chart, and the Moon in a woman's chart, because they are equal for both genders. When our actions stem from the heart, we use the Moon's energy to our advantage. This is the reason why it is so important to try to understand what the Moon tells us in our chart, especially if she is in difficult aspects to the Sun or the ascendant.
For better understanding of the difference between the effects of the Sun and the Moon, let's look at the chart of Princess Diana. Sun and the retrograding Mercury in the sign of Cancer in the 7th house indicate that she wanted to fulfil her courtly duties and play the role of a well-arranged wife, but the Moon in Aquarius in the 2nd house was trying to break free. Diana's emotional problems manifested as bulimia and compulsive shopping, what corresponds to the characteristic of the 2nd house (eating and material goods).

Pewnego dnia zadzwonił do mnie Paweł, mój znajomy, z prośbą o poradę w sprawie negocjacji kupna mieszkania. Razem z Dominiką, swoją dziewczyną, negocjują kupno mieszkania na wtórnym rynku. Cena jest dość wysoka, chcą więc trochę zbić cenę. Zaproponowali sprzedającemu 10 % zniżki. Postawiłam horoskop na moment zrozumienia pytania i zaczęłam przyglądać się rysunkowi.
Pytanie: Czy wynegocjujemy zniżkę na to mieszkanie?
Kupić, nie kupić – potargować można
Ascendent w znaku Lwa i jego władca Słońce reprezentują Pawła i Dominikę, którzy zadają pytanie i negocjują kupno mieszkania. Wskazuje to na ich optymizm i pewność siebie. Oboje chcą szybko dobić targu, bo mieszkanie im się podoba, jest w dobrej starej dzielnicy z klimatem, jak na znak Lwa przystało. W koniunkcji z ascendentem jest jednak maleficzny Węzeł Południowy [south node]. Nie wróży to dobrze kupującym, ani ich sytuacji – muszą coś kupić w miarę szybko. Słońce jest w znaku Byka (tradycyjnie związanym z pieniędzmi i ziemią) w dziesiątym domu, blisko MC, które oznacza cenę nieruchomości. Z tego widać, że negocjacje wkroczyły w fazę ostateczną. Słońce jest w niekorzystnej kwadraturze do osi Ascendent - Descendent. Ich pozycja negocjacyjna jest więc słaba, niedopasowana do sytuacji i trudno im będzie narzucić ton tym negocjacjom. Księżyc, współsygnifikator [cosignificator] pytającego, jest w swoim władztwie [domicile] w Raku w domu jedenastym. Księżyc jest tu bardzo zmienny, emocjonalny, wodny i tak do transakcji podchodzą Paweł i Dominika. Z jednej strony podoba im się mieszkanie, z drugiej jednak nie mają pewności, czy mają kupić właśnie to lokum. Wahanie i zmienność jest charakterystyczna dla znaku Raka. One day, my friend Paweł called me and asked for advice regarding price negotiations for a flat. Together with Dominika, his girlfriend, they're trying to buy one on the secondary market, but the price is quite high so they want to lower it a bit. They offered the seller a 10% discount. I cast a horoscope for the moment of understanding the question and started examining the picture.
Question: Will we successfully negotiate a discount for this flat?
Buying or not, it's always good to haggle. Ascendant in the sign of Leo and his ruler, the Sun, represents Paweł and Dominika, who ask the question and negotiate the purchase of the flat. It indicates their optimism and self-confidence. As befits the Leo sign, both want to strike a deal fast as they fancy the flat and what’s more, it’s located in an old district with a distinct atmosphere. However, in conjunction with the ascendant is the maleficent South Node. It’s bad news for both the buyer and the situation they're in – they have to buy something quickly enough. The Sun is in the Taurus sign (traditionally associated with money and land) in the 10th house, close to the medium coeli, which means the price of properties. This shows that the negotiations have entered the final stage. The Sun is in an unfavourable square to the Ascendant – Descendant axis and because of this, their negotiating position is weak, unfit for the situation and setting the pace of these negotiations will be difficult for them. The Moon, askers cosignificator, is in her domicile in Cancer in the 11th house. She is very changeable, emotional, aqueous and this is how Paweł and Dominika approach the transaction. On one hand, the flat is appealing to them but on the other, they’re not certain about buying this particular apartment. Hesitation and changeability is a distinctive feature of the Cancer sign, so no wonder that they seek advice and opinion from family and friends.
Seller, in this horoscope, is represented by the 7th house in the Aquarius sign, whose ruler is the planet Saturn, residing in the earthly sign of Virgo in the 1st house of the chart (which regards the buyers). All this indicates sincere intentions of the seller and his will to finalize the translation, but only on his conditions.
