It is a lively, somewhat boisterous scene, and very concentrated. Just a few feet away in any direction the noise and lights begin to fade, replaced by the lulling sounds of the ocean and the glimmer of the Southern Cross constellation.
La Pedrera is one of a handful of seaside villages in Rocha, a rural area of eastern Uruguay that’s slowly emerging as South America’s next bohemian-chic hideaway. Insiders and locals know Rocha as a cheaper and more relaxed alternative to Punta del Este, a high-end resort town about 80 miles south, and its oh-so-fashionable neighbor, Jose Ignacio. But in some ways, Rocha is the very antithesis of the country’s more famous beach destinations. There are no luxury brands, no parking woes and no society-page shindigs.
“It’s more down-to-earth, natural and younger than Jose Ignacio or Punta,” said Brenton West, a British photographer who was traveling along the Uruguayan coast in January. “It keeps its rural charm.”

As pessoas bem informadas e os moradores locais conhecem La Rocha como alternativa mais em conta e mais relaxante tanto para Punta del Este, uma cidade-resort das mais sofisticadas a cerca de 130 km ao sul, quanto para sua tão badalada vizinha, José Ignacio. I translate texts written in English and German to Brazilian Portuguese and also edit texts written in Brazilian Portuguese. I do not work with interpretation, subtitling, dubbing, or audio transcribing. Although I localize websites, I do not localize software. And I am not a sworn translator.
The main category of texts I work with covers websites, contracts, installation or operation manuals or manuals for general usage, product catalogs, correspondences, as well as articles or essays in human sciences, philosophy or humanities.
I started learning English when I was 12 years old and German when I was 14. I have been engaging in translating and editing jobs since 2000, when I was 23. At that time I was an undergraduate student.
My bachelor's degree is in Language and Literature, which comprises Linguistics. Also, I have had a Master's Degree in Contemporary Philosophy, in the research field of Philosophy of Language, since 2005.
For 20 months between 2009 and 2010, I worked at Federal University of Ceará, and I was responsible for international documents as well as international exchange students and teachers.
