My background

I started my professional career as PhD student biology in behavioural and neural science, so I have a widespread knowledge of the biological, medical, psychological and pharmaceutical field.

Furthermore, I have studied at the Writers School in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, where I improved my writing skills, but also my experience in the literature, publishing field.

Right now I am totally devoted to languages, both as a translator/proofreader and as a teacher. The last five years I have lived in Chester, Nottingham and Manchester in the UK, which provided me with a more in-depth understanding of the English language and British culture.

At the moment, I mainly work on software localisation/IT related projects and subtitling of a large variety of TV-shows, but I am interested in other projects as well. Please contact me for an individual quote.

Mijn achtergrond

Ik ben mijn professionele carrière begonnen als wetenschapper in gedrags- en neurobiologie en heb daardoor een uitgebreide kennis op het gebied van biologie, geneeskunde, psychologie en farmacie.

Verder heb ik aan de Schrijversvakschool Amsterdam gestudeerd waar ik mijn schrijfvaardigheden heb verbeterd, maar ook ervaring opdeed op het gebied van literatuur en het uitgeversvak.

Tegenwoordig richt ik mij volledig op het vertalen/corrigeren en lesgeven in het Nederlands en Engels. De afgelopen vijf jaar woonde ik in Chester, Nottingham en Manchester in het Verenigd Koninkrijk en daar heb ik een diepgaand begrip van de Engelse taal en cultuur gekregen.

Momenteel werk ik vooral aan software lokalisatie/IT gerelateerde projecten en ik doe veel ondertiteling voor televisieprogramma's, maar ik ben ook geïnteresseerd in andere projecten.
