I am a retired Hotel General Manager, who worked for several international companies for a total of 30 years on four continents: Sheraton, Westin, Canadian Pacific, Méridien, Meritus Hotels, Leading Hotels of the World. Almost all of the hotels I managed were with US-American companies, in English-spaking countries (15 years), Spanish (6), French (12). Hotel Management School of Lausanne, Switzerland.
My responsibilities included the elaboration of Marketing Plans and Operational Reports, Financial Analysis,
P.R. and Entertainment programs, Menus as well as correspondance with an American emphasis to "write like you speak" for clear understanding. The above always had to be translated into the local language as well (Spanish, French and others).
I have completed a Manual on Hotel Operations, with clear and relevant information, standards and guidelines on the running of a 4 or 5-star Hotel, including Marketing & Sales, Finance, Front Office & Reservations, Food Preparation, Service in Restaurants and Bars, Purchasing, Engineering, Public Relations, Housekeeping & Laundry. The Manual is a result of 30 years of Hotel Management, with different companies providing thousands of pages of material in separate manuals. My manual consists of short, down-to-fact information of how to handle each task. The part of Food & Beverage Controls, for instance, totals 4 pages, wheras an international company would issue about 200.
I have also written a book in German (presently being translated into English): "Traumberuf Hotelmanager ...never a dull moment", 356 pages, available with amazon.
I am also an accomplished photographer. Some of my pictures can be seen at
