Out of all geographical regions outlined in the government statistics information 2004 (http://www.statistik.gv.at/statistische_uebersichten/englisch/pdf/c12a_3.pdf), the CEE region (Bulgaria, Baltic Countries, Romania, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, former Soviet Union countries, Poland, Croatia and Slovenia) is the fourth largest country block in terms of number of nights spent (after Germany, Nederland and Switzerland). The latest statistics related to tourism in Austria for January – July 2005 (http://www.statistik.at/fachbereich_tourismus/Schnellbericht/Tourismus_07 2005.pdf) show an increase in the number of nights spent from all CEE countries (figures for Russia are not yet available, as data started to be collected from November 2004 onwards only). Hungary (13, 7%), Poland (10%), Czech Republic (8, 1%) showed the highest increase in nights spent compared to all other tourists from other countries (average increase was 2, 2%). CEE total contribution to the total nights number is 12, 1% in July 2005 (compared to only 1, 1% percent in Fischbach in July 2005).While the number of overnights spent by CEE tourists is growing in Austria, in Fischbach they are declining. Fischbach is missing out on a possible opportunity to benefit from the trend of Austria’s increasing popularity for CEE tourists.

Der Gesamtbeitrag der MOE-Länder an der Gesamtzahl der Übernachtungen betrug im Juli 2005 12,1% (verglichen mit nur 1,1% in Fischbach im Juli 2005). Während die Anzahl der Übernachtungen durch MOE- Touristen in Österreich wächst, gehen diese Zahlen in Fischbach zurück. Fischbach verpasst die Chance, von dem Trend der steigenden Popularität Österreichs unter MOE-Touristen, zu profitieren.
Der zunehmende Strom von MOE-Touristen nach Österreich zeigt, dass die Belegungsraten von Zimmern/ Appartements in Fischbach, durch die Aneignung einer angemessenen Marketingstrategie, steigerungsfähig ist. ABB to support engineering and science education
ABB Jürgen Dormann foundation will offer scholarships commencing 2008
Zurich, Switzerland, May 3, 2007 – ABB, the leading power and automation technology group, will create a foundation with funding of 20 million Swiss francs ($16.6 million) to sponsor talented and needy students of engineering and natural sciences.
The ABB Jürgen Dormann Foundation for Engineering Education will support five to six graduate students with an annual scholarship for a maximum of five years.
The foundation was named after the outgoing chairman, who retired from the post at today’s annual general meeting, in recognition of his contribution to the company. Jürgen Dormann became chairman in 2001 and served as chief executive officer from September 2002 to December 2004.
"Engineering plays an essential role for ABB and for the technological and economic progress of society," said ABB's President and CEO, Fred Kindle. "As a leading technology company, we are proud to support the next generation of engineers."
Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of ability, potential and personal means, and are open to students around the world beginning in 2008.
"ABB's ambitious strategy for growth requires the recruitment of many qualified engineers, although the number of available engineers is steadily declining," said ABB's head of human resources, Gary Steel, who will chair the foundation's board of directors. "This foundation encourages high-potential students who may not otherwise be able to continue their education in engineering and natural sciences, and also helps increase the pool of potential ABB employees."
Other members of the foundation’s board include Dinesh Paliwal, head of Global Markets and Technology and president of ABB in the United States, and Peter Terwiesch, ABB's Chief Technology Officer. The foundation will be run as a Swiss-based not-for-profit organization with a separate legal entity overseen by Switzerland’s interior ministry.

Zürich, Schweiz, 3. Mai 2007 – ABB, der weltweit führende Konzern in Energie- und Automatisierungstechnik, gründet eine Stiftung mit Fördermitteln in Höhe von 20 Mio. Franken (USD 16,6 Mio.) zur Förderung begabter und förderungsbedürftiger Studenten der Ingenieurs- und Naturwissenschaften.
Die Jürgen-Dormann-Stiftung zur Förderung der Ingenieursaubildung wird fünf bis sechs Hochschulabsolventen bis zu fünf Jahre mit einem jährlichen Stipendium unterstützen.
Die Stiftung wurde nach dem scheidenden Verwaltungsratspräsidenten benannt, der auf der heutigen Generalversammlung von seinem Amt zurück trat, und ehrt damit seine Leistungen für die Firma. Jürgen Dormann wurde 2001 Verwaltungsratspräsident und war von September 2002 bis Dezember 2004 Vorsitzender der Konzernleitung.
