As a qualified translator and bilingual Dutch-French, I have been freelancing since 1998. French was the language spoken at my home, at high school (by native speakers, all subjects from physics to philosophy were taught in French) and at the school of architecture which I attended for a year. The language I translate into is thus French. Modern technology allows me to keep in tune linguistically - I have a web subscription to Le Monde, listen to France Inter, often watch TV5 Monde, never miss a good French movie, try to go to France regularly... And thanks to a BA and MA passed in the UK, English has become the second language, next to Dutch, from which I translate.

Slaap, mijn kind, word water
ik blijf hier bij je waken, kijk
naar de deining van het laken

Un virage insoupçonné

Dors, mon enfant, fais-toi eau
