Bio
A California court-certified interpreter, Eugene has translated, interpreted, and edited for twenty years. As an interpreter he worked for the Los Angeles Russian Radio KMNB, administrative hearing for the City of West Hollywood, police interrogations at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, and the global Language Line Services. In writing, Eugene translated scripts, interviews, and songs for Paramount, Universal, Warner Bros, and Fox, as well as legal documents, official transcripts, advertisement, plays, and informational and training materials for government and businesses. Eugene's literary translation has tended to be of or about Anton Chekhov. While a graduate student at UCLA, he translated, with Carl Mueller, Chekhov's four major plays. In 2007, he published excerpts from his translation of the memoir by Chekhov's personal physician in "Chekhov The Immigrant: Translating a Cultural Icon." In 2010, Palgrave Macmillan printed Eugene's book-length translation of "Anton Chekhov: A Brother's Memoir" by Mikhail Chekhov. As a researcher Eugene published a paper on the history and theory of governmental enforcement in the United States and "Anton Chekhov as the Other: An Ill Russian Writer in France," a research article in the Other Shore (2010). He is a contributing writer to Los Angeles-based Russian periodicals. Eugene holds two Master’s Degrees—one in Public Administration and another in Theater.
