Source text - Greek ΣΚΗΝΗ 1 Η Άννα στριμωγμένη στο άβολο κάθισμα του μικρού ελικοφόρου είναι η μόνη ευρωπαία της πτήσης. Σε αντίθεση με τους πολύχρωμα ντυμένους συνταξιδιώτες της, έχει επιλέξει να φορέσει ένα άσπρο λινό φόρεμα. Μόνο ένα λεπτό βυσσινί φουλάρι δίνει κάποιο χρωματικό τόνο στο ντύσιμο της. Οι ζωηροί και θορυβώδεις συνεπιβάτες την εμποδίζουν να συγκεντρωθεί στο εντυπωσιακό θέαμα που αποκαλύπτεται από το παράθυρο της. Στον απέραντο ορίζοντα, οι πρώτες ακτίνες του ήλιου έχουν κάνει την εμφάνιση τους μέσα από τα νερά του Ωκεανού. Το βλέμμα της Άννας θα περιπλανηθεί για λίγο στα πρόσωπα που την περιστοιχίζουν. Πρόσωπα ιδιαίτερα αλλά με κοινά τα χαρακτηριστικά της αφρικάνικης καταγωγής τους. Το χέρι της Άννας αναζητά κάτι στη φαρδιά τσάντα της μέχρι να αγγίξει το σφραγισμένο φάκελο ενός γράμματος. Μετά από μια βαθιά ανάσα της, η πλαστικοποιημένη κάρτα με της οδηγίες έκτακτης ανάγκης που βρίσκεται στο τσεπάκι της πλάτης του μπροστινού καθίσματος μετατρέπεται σε αυτοσχέδια βεντάλια. Η έκφραση της Άννας προδίδει δυσφορία.	Translation - English SCENE 1 Anna, cramped in the uncomfortable seat of the small propeller plane, is the only European on the flight. Contrary to her co-passengers who are dressed in bright colors, she has chosen to wear a white linen dress. Only a thin cherry-colored scarf lends a colorful touch to her attire. Her lively, noisy co-passengers prevent her from concentrating on the impressive sight unfolding from her window. On the endless horizon, the first rays of the sun have made their appearance from within the waters of the ocean. Anna’s eyes wander for a little to the faces around her; distinctive faces, but with the characteristics of their African heritage. Anna’s hand searches for something in her wide handbag until she touches the sealed envelope of a letter. Her glance falls on the envelope for a little and then she takes a packet of aromatic wipes from her handbag. Anna’s hand encircles her throat with the towel, which gives her a temporary sense of fragrant coolness. After taking a deep breath, she takes the plastic card with emergency instructions from the pocket of the seat in front of her and transforms it into a fan. Anna’s expression reveals her discomfort.

Γνωρίζοντας λοιπόν τα πράγματα στο σύνολό τους και στις λεπτομέρειες, στην αντιστοιχία τους με κάθε ενδιάμεση ή ακραία σχέση, διασύνδεση, μεταβίβαση του κεντρικού σκληρού υλικού της σε ό,τι ταυτίζεται με την κυρίαρχη πνευματικότητα κι αισθητική της ανοίγοντας πολλαπλά παράθυρα προς την ομορφιά αλλά και την τραγικότητα του ανθρώπου και του κόσμου, την απεκάλεσα –σε πρόσφατη ομιλία μου γύρω από το έργο της– κορυφαία της πατρίδας της στον τομέα του χαϊκού. Therefore, being aware of that progression in its totality and in detail, in its correspondence with every relationship in between or with an extreme relationship, transference of her central raw materials to whatever can be identified with her ruling intellect and with her aesthetics, opening multiple windows to the lovely, but tragic element of man and of the world, I described her – in a recent talk of mine which focused on her works – as the leader in her country in the area of haiku. This is a belief which is not only confirmed with the publication of her recent book, “The House”, a bi-lingual publication that is divided into surprising entities, with delicate, dreamy watercolors by the charismatic painter Alexandros, and generally with a series of drawings, poems and other elements pleasing to the eye, but which also certifies her further development, determines her as a leader in her own right and in the eyes of all those who are passionately involved in this particular form of poetic expression - the engaging, playful, condensed and, for many reasons, dangerous form - and in the eyes of those of us who, due to our weaknesses, remain simple readers. - snapper in the plate - goldfish in the fishbowl - me in a dilemma little refugee in your hair, lice and…a fine bow! dark the voices of the birds on the meat hook …I stoop to hear Or, as she tries, on the back cover to determine the exposure of the hidden: “It is “the house” of the universe The 3 lines of the haiku stand guard. They alternately observe the grass growing, the red embrace, the reticent moon, the slaughterhouse of the world”. To touch upon the one or the other haiku poem in such an excellent book with a critique is harmful to the critic, as well as to the one being critiqued, however, this minimal choice is a declaration of the ongoing rhythm of my edification, the scaffolding of my contemplation. A totality within the intimation of this art. Quality which wavers between beauty and tragedy, which more than a few times reaches perfection with impressive, spontaneous images, faith in morals and in life, deep philosophical thought, in its entirety a homogeneous pulsating poetic body – and here, let us remember the great representative of that poetic form, the Japanese Matsuo Basho, who had also written haiku with a skeptical disposition, or, if you wish, a philosophical content.

Source text - Greek ΒΙΟΓΡΑΦΙΚΟ Ζωή Σαβίνα Δεν συμπαθούσα ποτέ τα βιογραφικά. Είναι άχαρη η θέση ενός συγγραφέα να προτάσσει φύλλο «ποιότητας» ή «πορείας»… Είναι ένα πριόνι που κόβει τον αέρα, αφήνοντας στεγνές ημερομηνίες, βάζοντας τις καμαρούλες της ψυχής, σ’ έναν κατάλογο. Ωστόσο αυτοβούλως πέρασα στο θερμοκήπιο, κάποιες απ’ τις δραστηριότητες της ζωής μου. Έτσι όποια περιέργεια από εσάς προκύψει, θα συμμεριστώ τις ισορροπίες της απόφασής μου, τα «πρέπει» ώστε το φευγαλέο να γίνει αναγκαία ορατό. Τα περισσότερα για μένα στο πέταγμα της πεταλούδας Όνομα: Ζωή Σαβίνα Εθνικότητα: Ελληνική Γεννήθηκα: στην Αθήνα, ξημερώματα μιας 12ης Ιανουαρίου. It is unpleasant for a writer to be in the position of composing a page of “quality” or “progression”… It is a saw which cuts through air, leaving dry dates, putting the little rooms of the soul in a catalog. Nevertheless, I have willingly passed some of my life’s activities through the greenhouse. In that way, in response to any curiosity that might arise on your behalf, I will share the balance of my decisions, the “musts” so that the fleeting will necessarily become visible. More about me at the flight of the butterfly. Name: Zoe Savina Nationality: Greek I was born: in Athens at daybreak on some 12th of January. Studies: I attended the Professional School of Athens (as a tutor in Professional Schools), later interior design and painting at the Academia di Belle Art – Firenze in Italy. I have exhibited collages in Firenze and in Pistola, Italy. Projects – Activities: I have been involved in writing poetry, essays, fairy tales and critiques. In 1982 I presented 22 Greek poets “Niovi Poeti Greci” for the publishing house Grafic Olimbia di Milano-Italia. I have taken part in and have given talks at Conferences and Symposiums in Greece and abroad. I am culturally active. I correspond with poets from 50 countries, university professors and philhellenes. I work in cooperation with literature periodicals, presenting poets from all over the world. The transference of their ideas and of the modern state of being throughout the world between their countries and Greece is of interest to me. Bio

I am a native English speaker of Greek-American descent and was born and raised in the U.S., where I studied English and Art. Also fluent in Greek, for more than 20 years I have been translating from Greek to English in a wide range of subject areas.

My experience includes translation in the fields of legal, maritime, medicine, business, energy, telecommunications, tourism, history and literature. My work encompasses the translation of a script for a documentary film, a book about village life in the Peloponnese during the Turkish occupation and several books of poetry.

As in-house translator for a British public relations firm in Athens, my main client was one of the major mobile telephone companies in Greece. In that capacity, I summarized and translated large volumes of press articles under strict deadlines on a daily basis. Many of these were of a technical nature, involving medical research and I transposed the information into layman's terms.

My proofreading and editing portfolio includes that of a dissertation for a London university that received a grade of "A". In addition proofreading projects have included extensive NATO and legal documents. I have also created business profiles for websites, an example of which is indicated below.

Honors include several international prizes for poetry in translation, one of which is "Best Book of Poetry in Translation", awarded by the Society of Greek Writers.
