My forte is literature and art. My interests, as wide apart as they appear to be, pertain to history of ideas, extraordinary (verging on, and often touched by eccentricity, if not complete meshugeners) artists and individuals, literati (in particular those from Momoyama and Edo periods), literary criticism, shodo, Glenn Gould, Walter Benjamin, Mishima Yukio,etc.
Since 1988 I've been working as an English instructor at various tertiary institutions in Matsuyama, Japan.
Recently translated 'The Missionary and the Libertine' by Ian Buruma (published by Universitas, Poland)
