In order to grill, heat the appliance while closed as it will heat much faster like this. When the plates are heated, open the appliance. This open grilling position is handy for use in the kitchen and is also very nice at the table! Moreover, it is a healthy way to grill or fry because no oil or butter is required.
The cooking time and temperature setting will depend on the chosen dish or ingredients. You can, of course, experiment with the cooking time and the temperature setting to get the best results.
Small pieces of meat, fish etc. will be cooked through faster than large pieces.
Turn meat and fish once only in order to prevent them from drying out. For the same reason it is better to use a spatula than to prick with a fork.

For å kunne grille, må apparatet først varmes mens det er lukket. Oppvarmingen går nemlig mye hurtigere på den måten. Når platene er varme, åpner du apparatet. Denne åpne grillposisjonen er praktisk for bruk på kjøkkenet og ser dessuten fin ut på bordet! Dessuten er det en sunn måte å grille/steke på, ettersom du ikke trenger olje eller smør.
Steketiden og temperaturinnstillingen avhenger av hvilke retter du vil tilberede og hvilke ingredienser du vil bruke. Du kan selvfølgelig prøve ut steketiden og temperaturinnstillingen for å oppnå best mulig resultat.
Små stykker kjøtt, fisk osv. tilberedes hurtigere enn store stykker.
Snu kjøtt og fisk bare én gang, så det ikke blir altfor tørt. Av samme grunn er det best å ikke stikke i kjøttet med gaffel e.l., men å bruke spatelen.

Hovden Høyfjellshotell stod første gang ferdig i 1937.
Denne flotte trebygningen brant ned i 1945 da det skulle åpnes igjen etter okkupasjonen under 2. verdenskrig. Det ble ikke bygget nytt før i 1967, da dagens hotell formet som snøkrystall (sekskantet) stod ferdig. Hotellet har en hyggelig peisestue, bar, pianounderholdning 6 kvelder i uken, svømmebasseng og badstu.
