I’m a full-time translator with 14 years’ experience working for clients mainly in the market research, surveying, real estate and engineering sectors. The market research context in particular has enabled me to span a remarkably wide range of subject areas (among which advertising, medical, IT/technological, automotive, nutritional and recreational) and of language styles, from detailed professional reports/analyses to creative writing and colloquial speech.

For all types of translation, my fundamental working principles are:

• to render the original text fully, accurately and faithfully (in content and tone) into an English that flows naturally and is appropriate for the context, specialist or otherwise;

• to approach every project from the client’s viewpoint, establishing a close working relationship and guaranteeing total reliability in meeting deadlines.

The fact that I previously worked for several years in a translation-commissioning role in the UK and Italy has helped me to cultivate an awareness of the overall working process that each translation helps to complete. For several longstanding clients, this enables me to give real added value by acting as both translator and proof-reader of the original text, providing a final quality control filter before delivery or publication.

Although still a British national and in constant touch with my original home, I’ve now lived in Italy for 22 years and feel thoroughly absorbed into the country’s life and culture, with an Italian wife, two kids and an engaging array of in-laws, friends and colleagues.
