About me
Why become a translator?

I have come to the translation profession with a desire to combine my language proficiency and my expert knowledge of science, in particular medical science, and education. Until the end of my first university degree I lived in The Netherlands. I subsequently relocated to the UK to continue with my post-graduate studies, followed by employment. In my twenty years living in the UK, I have acquired excellent knowledge of the English language to the extent that I consider myself to be a native speaker.

How did I gain experience in my fields of expertise?

During my six-year undergraduate degree, I specialised in biochemistry and human genetics for a year and a half, carrying out practical research into the underlying causes of human diseases. The subsequent doctoral research and post-doctoral research position involved the identification of genetic causes of human diseases and childhood cancer. I carried out internationally collaborative research, contributed to and wrote scientific articles and gave presentations to medical and scientific staff. These experiences have prepared me well for translation in the fields of general science, general medicine and in particular human genetics. I have also developed an interest in clinical trials documentation and have gained experience in this through training and self-study.

In addition, I am a qualified primary teacher and therefore have experience in using educational resources, research articles and reading and writing reports.

What can you expect from me?

Should you entrust me with your translations, you can expect my complete commitment. You can be assured that the delivered work will be of excellent quality and will be delivered before or on the deadline. Furthermore, your phone calls and e-mails will be answered promptly.
