In making sound, ethical business decisions, we strive to ensure that our professional objectivity is not
compromised. Our judgment, choices, and actions can be impaired if our private interests interfere with the company’s interests.
We safeguard our objectivity by avoiding financial, business, and other relationships that might compete with company interests. We expect our staff to be extremely cautious, scrupulously avoiding even the appearance of a conflict between our duties as employees and our personal interests.
Since conflicts of interest do arise from time to time, even in good faith, we encourage staff to disclose
all potential conflicts freely and promptly to supervisors, and to work with ABC to resolve conflicts
in a mutually satisfactory way.
To maintain objectivity and independence in our work, we:
*Honor our responsibilities to ABC and its clients by avoiding business and financial actions, relationships, or situations that might conflict — or create the appearance of a conflict — with our loyalty to ABC or the projects we manage.
*Promptly disclose all potential conflicts of interest to a supervisor, and seek advice to resolve them.
*Don’t engage in any business activities, investments, or loans in the country to which we are assigned, unless we are a citizen or legal resident of that country or have ABC’ express approval.
*Request prior written approval from ABC’ president before maintaining a financial interest, through direct or indirect ownership, in a business that does or seeks to do business with, or is in competition with ABC.
*Don’t use proprietary information belonging to ABC, its partners, or suppliers (or pertaining to ABC’ relationship with these parties) to influence personal decisions or the decisions of others regarding investments in any country in which ABC works.
*Participate in social causes or in civic, political, or religious activities unrelated to ABC’ work only on our own time and at our own expense.
*Remember that when we are in a country other than our own, we represent the U.S. government
as well as ABC and should not interfere in the internal political affairs of the host country.
| | Ukrainian to English: Excise Tax Legislation | Source text - Ukrainian 9. | | English to Russian: Air Classification - Engineering: Industrial | Source text - English Air classification
The feed material enters the classifier mixed with an air stream, through a vertical pipe positioned at the bottom of the classifier. The particle stream entering the classifier is dispersed around a static distribution cone, where coarse particles immediately begin to settle in the lower velocity air stream. These particles are rejected towards the conical outlet and fall down to the bottom part of the classifier. As they are falling to the bottom of the classifier, they pass through an area where secondary rinse air is introduced tangentially, in a swirling motion, to wash off fine particles that might be adhering to the coarse material. The fine particles are swept up towards the classifying rotor, while the coarse material is discharged from the classifier, by gravity, through the coarse fraction outlet. The finer fractions presented to the classifying rotor, are selected or rejected according to the resultant of a positive air drag force opposing a negative rejecting centrifugal force, developed from the rotor speed. The selected fine fraction flows through the rotor and is discharged from the classifier through the air outlet, together with the air flow. The fine fraction is separated from the air in a downstream cyclone or filter.
| | English to Russian: Jet Mill Grinding Equipment - Engineering: Industrial | Source text - English Jet mill grinding principle
Jet milling is a common grinding method for high value materials. It often concerns materials which are abrasive or when the grinding process has to be carried out under ultra high purity conditions.
Extremely low wear rate of the mill parts provides possibilities for new demanding applications. On the other hand, jet milling process requires high energy input, which has to be justified by final product added value. It is therefore of critical importance to provide an energy efficient process.
XXX jet mill was constructed to combine high grinding efficiency with the ability to control product particle size distribution. As a result the mill has been used in applications not possible with alternative jet milling solutions.
Grinding principle of the fluidized bed opposed jet mill can be illustrated by an air stream accelerating particles when flowing into the grinding chamber. Particle velocity is very low at the air inlet point and accelerates to supersonic range when approaching the mill centre. Optimal operating conditions are achieved when particle pressure over the air nozzle area is high enough to force enough particles into the air stream and at the same time not too high to reduce the total particle velocity. Highest velocity of maximal number of particles at the collision point in the mill centre, provides the best grinding efficiency.
| | English to Ukrainian: Vacuum Filter - Engineering: Industrial | Source text - English User Manual: Vacuum Filter

| | English to Russian: Oilfield Description - Geology | Source text - English Tengiz field is located on the south side of the 500,000 km2 Pre-Caspian basin on the northeastern edge of the present-day Caspian Sea. It is one of several large carbonate buildups found at various depths around the edge of the basin. The Tengiz reservoir is an isolated carbonate buildup (i.e., platform) with a mesa-like geometry: flat-topped and steep-sided. The platform has a slight regional tilt today of less than one degree to the south. The sides of the platform generally dip approximately 25 degrees on all flanks and reach a maximum dip of over 35 degrees in the northwest flank.
The present-day geometry of the Tengiz structure is that of a topographically high rim area surrounding a depressed central platform, and flanked by a dipping platform-to-basin transitional facies along the flank.
Production in the Tengiz reservoir comes from a 1,600-m oil column composed of Devonian to Carboniferous age limestones and dolomites. The highest-rate wells are located in the platform margin and slope in fractured carbonates with low (less than 6%) matrix porosity.
The field produces a light, intermediate-sulfur, stabilized tank oil of approximately 47° API gravity. Crude oil is the predominant cash product of the field. Other products include natural gas liquids (NGLs), residue gas (designated as dry gas by Tengizchevroil), and elemental sulfur. To date, water production from the field has been negligible.
• Water-oil capillary pressure is an important parameter that affects recovery from both natural water influx and water injection in the flank.
• A waterflood is only viable if the reservoir exhibits a reasonable degree of water imbibition.
• The volume of water injected affects only incremental recovery if the formation exhibits a reasonable degree of water imbibition.
• Expected value DPI for flank waterflood project is 1.44.
• Incremental NPV10 is approximately $200 million (2006 U.S. dollars).
• Capital expenditures (CAPEX) estimates were taken from the 2001 study on waterflood potential and need revision.
| | English to Russian: Oil & Gas Production - Petroleum Eng/Sci | Source text - English During the 2003 site survey campaign, a high-resolution geophysical survey was conducted in the vicinity of the proposed Udachnaya location in the SAK V block, offshore Sakhalin. Geophysical systems used during the site survey consisted of single-beam fathometer, side scan sonar, subbottom profiler and multichannel 2D seismic. Shallow sediment samples were also acquired.
Objective: Conduct several special engineering studies on key topics that will have a major effect on Sakhalin 5 technology, cost and schedule. Also provide expert seismic technical input to the parallel engineering studies that will be investigating options for the Sakhalin 5 facilities.
Seismic design will control numerous aspects of the Sakhalin 5 development, particularly the currently planned offshore Gravity Base Structure (GBS). These seismic design requirements can be very costly and further study is required to determine the sensitivity of the GBS to these issues and if further technology development is required, if any. The key issues have to do with ice-load combinations (which needs to be part of the PSDC), the potential use of base isolators (they were required on the Sakhalin 2 GBS), and soil-structure interaction which tends to increase the seismic loads acting on the GBS. There is also a task to provide general seismic consulting i |
