Bio
I am a lawyer (UK qualified) and also have a degree in modern languages (MA Hons 1st class St. Andrews University, Scotland 1978). I specialise in legal texts - contracts, litigation etc and business texts such as company reports and financial statements. I also have a certificate in French law (Edinburgh University)and European law (Glasgow University). Although British, since I live in the US I am able to tailor my translations for the US market as well as the British market.

I do a large amount of work for various Scotch whisky companies, translating court documents for litigation in the French and German courts. I have worked as a freelancer since 1995 but prior to that I worked as a government linguist for the British government(Government Communications Headquarters, equivalent to NSA) and subsequently as a lawyer for 9 years. Of those 5 were spent in the company and private client departments of Maclay Murray & Spens, one of the largest legal firms in Scotland.
