Mehr als 2 Milliarden Menschen sind heute schon gezwungen, verunreinigtes Wasser zu trinken. Die Qualität von Wasser wird von vielen Faktoren beeinflusst. Eine gleichbleibend gute Wasserqualität für den jeweiligen Einsatz kann nicht mehr garantiert werden. Naturkatastrophen, Grund- und Regenwasserbelastungen durch die Industrie, aber auch regionale Veränderungen wirken sich kurz- und langfristig negativ auf die Wasserqualität aus.
