Source text - English KUALA LUMPUR 2 January - Illegal Assembly or street protest is not the best way to express dissatisfaction to the government.
"Believe me, I was once the driving force of street demonstrations. Now I have realized that it was just useless and detrimental to the country.
"Actually, a lot of channels that we can use to convey what we think the government. Fact, I believe the government is now more open to receive any suggestions or criticism," he told Utusan Malaysia today.
He was responding to incidents of illegal assembly that contains the elements of provocation and violence during the new year recently, including causing several policemen injured.
Ramlan said of the demonstration, it is better the time, money and energy are used to help flood victims and those in need.
Translation - Malay KUALA LUMPUR 2 Jan. - Perhimpunan haram atau demonstrasi jalanan bukan jalan terbaik untuk menyatakan rasa tidak puas hati kepada kerajaan.
"Percayalah, saya sendiri dahulu merupakan penggerak demonstrasi jalanan. Kini saya sudah sedar bahawa perbuatan itu hanya sia-sia dan merugikan negara.
"Sebenarnya banyak saluran yang boleh kita guna untuk menyampaikan apa yang kita rasa kepada kerajaan. Malah saya yakin kerajaan kini lebih bersikap terbuka untuk menerima sebarang cadangan atau kritikan," katanya ketika dihubungi Utusan Malaysia hari ini.
Beliau mengulas insiden perhimpunan haram yang mengandungi elemen-elemen provokasi dan ganas sewaktu sambutan tahun baharu baru-baru ini termasuk menyebabkan beberapa anggota polis tercedera.
Ramlan berkata, daripada berdemonstrasi, lebih baik masa, wang ringgit dan tenaga itu digunakan untuk membantu mangsa-mangsa banjir dan mereka yang memerlukan.
