I will earn a certification in translation to and from English and Spanish next December through a local college (in Arizona). In this program I have had two years of experience translating in the legal and medical fields with limited experience in business.
I have learned how to be a resourceful researcher and how to solve translation dilemmas. In addition I have a small network of fellow students who will serve as resources. I am a native English speaker and since junior high school I have had a strong command of and passion for written English.
I earned my BA in Spanish literature last August (2001) and am applying to the Univ. of Arizona Masters program.
At this point I am most comfortable working from Spanish into English but in my class work I have done an equal amount of work from English into Spanish.
I am eager to gain experience and look forward to developing a freelance translation business.
I have found that translation projects are extremely variable in the demands they make on time and energy. I would be most comfortable looking at a project before agreeing to a price. I would set a price of $.10 per word for a project of medium difficulty and work from there. |
