Theme parks emerge as another major tourism industry attraction in the Asia. Theme park design and layout are often sophisticated and thus constitute a challenge to the way people access this type of tourism infrastructure. Developing theme park identity is essential for successful wayfinding and in creating space for more legible and user-friendly experience. In recent years, wayfinding has become an issue on how visitors find their way into the theme park. However, only few studies explore visitor behavior related to spatial layout and the choice of activities that they prefer most. This research investigates visitors’ wayfinding behavior in the theme park by determining the pattern of movement to improve the physical environment. The study was conducted at Universal Studio in the city-state of Singapore. The researcher used a questionnaire survey to elicit data from 229 theme park visitors. The aspects investigated include visitors’ perceptions on design, facilities, choices and preference. In addition to that, a behavioral observation was conducted to complement the questionnaire. The study data was analyzed using Rasch Measurement Model with the aid Rasch Winstep software. This study found that patterns of behavior based on specific intentions, attitudes and motivation were most significant and were identified through typology of spatial temporal behavior. It also discovered that the rules of human wayfinding behavior could be grouped into two types: environment behavior and physical behavior. Both behaviors can be merged to improve the flow of visitors which indicate that, spatial and the individual factors do affect familiarity with the environment. Therefore, as for the individual behavior wayfinding, they tend to be more anxious in looking for strategy preference, facing the difficulties and performance than group visitors who exhibited a sense of calmness and less of wayfinding errors. The findings of this research can help to give insights for decision support particularly space designers, policymakers and theme park managers and other stakeholders in tourism, arts and recreation industry.
