What Is Gout? [FIRST LEVEL]
Gout is a form of arthritis that causes sudden, severe episodes of pain, tenderness, redness, warmth and swelling of joints. It usually affects one joint at a time. The most common joint that is affected by gout is the large joint of the big toe.
Gout pain and swelling are caused by:
• increased levels of uric acid in the blood; and
• the formation of uric acid crystals in joints.
These uric acid crystals cause painful inflammation of the joint. Uric acid is a substance that normally forms when the body breaks down waste products called purines. Uric acid usually dissolves in the blood and passes through the kidneys into the urine. In people with gout, the uric acid level in the blood becomes elevated. | Translation - Spanish

¿Qué es la gota? [PRIMER NIVEL]
La gota es una forma de artritis que provoca episodios repentinos y severos de dolor, irritación, enrojecimiento, calor e hinchazón de las articulaciones. Generalmente afecta a una articulación por vez. La articulación afectada por la gota con mayor frecuencia es la articulación grande del dedo gordo del pie.
El dolor y la hinchazón de la gota son ocasionados por:
• incremento del nivel de ácido úrico en la sangre y
• formación de cristales de ácido úrico en las articulaciones.
Estos cristales de ácido úrico provocan la inflamación dolorosa de la articulación. El ácido úrico es una sustancia que normalmente se forma cuando el cuerpo descompone productos de desecho llamados purinas. El ácido úrico habitualmente se disuelve en la sangre y atraviesa los riñones hacia la orina. You can choose to view an item in its original format or convert it to HTML and view it in a web browser. HTML conversion is very useful in situations where the client machine does not have software that can handle the item's format.
Most image formats are defined in pixels. With this type of image, the resulting HTML image will look as it should. However, there are some images whose size is specified in physical units such as centimetres or inches, and there is no way for the HTML Conversion process to know how big a pixel is on the target device. In fact, a single item might ultimately be viewed on many devices, each with a different number of pixels or Dots Per Inch (DPI). Therefore, when images defined in physical units are converted to HTML, they might become distorted.
