Hi there! I'm Simon, a British national with an engineering background working in the field of Chinese-English translation.

I moved to Taiwan to teach English in 2010 after becoming TESOL qualified. After turning my focus to Mandarin, I moved into the field of Chinese-English translation in 2014. Although Taiwan uses traditional Chinese characters, my translation work involving mainland Chinese media has enabled me to become versed in simplified Chinese too. In March 2016 I achieved the top level of Hanban’s Chinese Proficiency Test: HSK Level 6.

I have a strong technical background which is reflected by my master’s degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering along with industry experience. I have also completed training in Asset Management and Investment Funds at ProZ.com, and have previous experience in trading financial markets.

I have experience in the use of SDL Trados Studio (2011, 2015) and ABBYY FineReader 12. I’m always eager to learn new software tools in my commitment to provide a first-rate service.
