Bio
My name is Luisa Celentano. I am of Italian origin but born and (mostly) bred in London. I am therefore a 100% native (UK) English speaker. I studied French and Italian for four years at the University of Bristol and I currently specialise in translating insurance policies and claims reports.

I spent 6 months at l'Université de Genève as part of the Erasmus scheme, where I was enrolled in the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting. I spent a further 6 months in Milan, at l'Università degli Studi di Milano, studying translation at Masters level. At both universities I took translation exams, all of which I passed. My fourth year of University (in Bristol) was heavily based on translation skills. I translated many things from journalistic articles, to literary passages, and marketing websites. Moreover, I took a CAT tools and a translation theory module which really aided my understanding of translation.

Just after graduating, I was head-hunted for a bi-lingual secretary/translator role at an Italian Insurance Brokerage (a Lloyd's broker) in London. Working here has allowed me to acquire experience and knowledge on operations within the private insurance sector. This role has helped me develop many skills in a fast moving and corporate environment, as well as translate insurance policies and claims reports. Examples of type of policies I have translated are Cash in Transit, Professional Indemnity, Directors and Officers Liability, and Contingency, from Italian into English.

Since then I have completed the (LM1) London Market Insurance Principles exam and am currently studying for the second exam (LM2) as part of my specialisation.
