About me
As a graduate of the University of Victoria (Hispanic Studies) and the the University of British Columbia (Master of Arts in Latin American Literature), I have studied and worked with the Spanish language since 1997, when I translated my first document for an international softball competition. Native to Canada, I love the Spanish language and am often mistaken as being from Latin America with my native fluency. My dedication to studying and thriving with Spanish as my second language was the motivation behind raising my children in Spanish, despite not being my mother tongue. My expertise is derived from a wide range of experience including extensive travel throughout Latin America and Spain, writing academic papers, translating documents for the tech industry, as well as The Globe Series; the preeminent forum for sustainability-related professionals in Canada. I have worked as an interpreter for tours, the Globe Series, as well as for Sustainable Cities International for The World Urban Forum. I also have years of teaching experience in BC's leading post-secondary institutions, as well as in private secondary schools in Vancouver. I currently work as a freelancer in Spanish Language communications, as well as a Program Facilitator for Mamá Ganso; a family outreach program for Spanish-speaking families in Vancouver, BC.
