Psychology, education, employment & training, social sciences
My academic background is in psychology, social sciences and education. Consequently, I have tended to specialise in translations in these areas. I have completed many academic translations that have been published in journals, as well as related texts for more practical applications. The areas within my expertise cover e.g. education, employment and training, human resources, management, social administration and sociology, as well as all branches of psychology.

Business translation
I also have long and varied experience in business at senior executive level, giving me an excellent understanding of all aspects of business and commercial life in both manufacturing and retailing. I am an experienced and able copy writer and enjoy any business or marketing-related translation work.
Literature (adult and children's) and film subtitling
I particularly enjoy this type of work and have a great deal of experience. As an ex-teacher, children's literature is particularly close to my heart. I have translated many children's books and cartoons, long extracts from historical and other novels, and subtitled many films of all genres.
Law
Although I have no legal qualifications, I have gained a lot of experience in translating various legal documents: contracts, agreements, certificates, court documentation, patents etc.
General
I have detailed knowledge of a number of general subjects, either through personal interest, hobbies or work. Examples are horticulture and gardening, dogs, furniture manufacturing and retailing, forestry, timber, ancient history, the paper industry, food and drink, interior design, etc.
