Process / workflow description

Document translation

Our global network of freelance translators can handle nearly any type of document. Whether you need translation services for commercial documents and business communication, multilingual website translation services or assistance with adapting advertising and marketing materials, BeTranslated can provide the quick, accurate service that your growing business needs.

We assign translators with subject matter expertise to each document translation project. That means we will provide exactly the right professional to translate your software user guides, or assign a translator with specific economic development experience to work on your human rights texts for instance. By relying on translators experienced in the given subject matter for every translation, we can guarantee the accuracy of every document.

The BeTranslated approach:

• We focus mainly on corporations, associations and commercial ventures, not individuals.
• We offer quality translations performed by freelance translators with in depth-knowledge of the source and target languages (they translate only to their native language) and the subject matter.
• We anticipate your need for flexible and efficient service.

Website translation

Cost-effective website translation

Website translation is one of the most cost-effective methods used today to reach international markets. While it is true that English is one of the most prevalent second languages, and people in many lands read and understand English, cultural differences can lead to misunderstandings that interfere with your message. Also, people feel more comfortable buying your products and services if you speak to them in their own language. Just think about how convenient it is for them!

Partial or complete website translation

Many companies and organizations have already realized the benefits of translating their websites, partly or entirely. While we recommend the translation of the entire website, you may decide to translate only core pages on which you highlight your international offerings. Choosing key pages to translate may be an alternative solution that suits your needs.

Our website translation approach

In order to proceed with the translation of your website, we generally adopt one of the following two approaches. The content to be translated can either be sent to us with all encoding or markup languages removed (.txt, .doc, .rtf), or we can proceed directly with the translation of the sources files (.asp, .htm(l), .php, .xml, java and many more). In the latter case, we will download your site, perform a word count and send you the details so that you can accept the word count or delete unnecessary files. We can then confirm our final price.

Website translation in the source code or in Word format?

We will gladly translate text from source code if you wish. However, please note that we must request a 20% surcharge compared to translation into simple text, since the translation process is slower and a quality audit is required.

Graphical elements

Regarding the translation of your graphical elements (.jpg, .gif, .png, Flash, Illustrator, Director), we can either provide you a translation in an Excel spreadsheet so that you can localize the content in-house, or let us handle the job through an external webmaster or DTP (desktop publishing) specialist. If you prefer that we take care of this task, simply send us your source files (.psd, .fla, ai, png, etc.) and we will ensure that all your graphics files are adapted correctly.

Trust Your Specialized Translation to BeTranslated

There can be no doubt of the value of having native speakers in your target language perform your translation, who also demonstrate mastery of the source language. This is part of our ethos at BeTranslated – it’s how we work. But today’s global-minded companies need more than that.

With demands for translation becoming increasingly specialized in distinct and niche business areas, it is now paramount that we employ multi-faceted translators, who not only possess the translation expertise we require, but who also excel in some key discipline that matches the needs of our clients. Hence we now source a variety of language professionals who have racked up impressive credentials as experts in one or more business, technical or financial specialties. Working alone or in multi-disciplinary teams, our multi-talented prize players give BeTranslated the competitive edge in attaining a precision in translation.

A simple illustration: Language skills being equal, you can’t expect a literature devotee to translate an RF circuitry manual to the same quality standard as an electrical engineer who has made a career in that field! This reveals our operating philosophy for the dynamic translation needs of international business – match the translator to the client as closely as possible. We do this for a growing number of clients in many fields, and know better than anyone how to marshal all the elements necessary to make your translation a success.

Translation in Teams

First, we would like to make clear that we are not a traditional translation agency, but a network of professional translators distributed around the world, who are accustomed to working both individually and in teams. Our commitment to our partners and customers is well known among those who know our work.
Our vibrant translation network efficiently distributes translations according to the availability, specialization, expertise and resources of individual translators.
Our geographical distribution allows us to take advantage of time zone differences to meet the tightest deadlines and requirements.
We are highly flexible and we pride ourselves on working with partners who value quality, who choose to work in an environment of mutual respect, and who are willing to communicate openly.

How our proven team concept works

A designated BeTranslated representative manages the customer relationship, defining the project requirements (deadline, style, terminology, target audience and other factors). Based on this information, a freelancer performs project administration, distributing files among all the translators involved, including the proofreader, who will make the final quality check.
Every project has a dedicated technical assistant, accessible to all team members. The project manager verifies the final translation and delivers it to the customer. Some related tasks are creating a bilingual glossary, and sourcing reference material or law excerpts. Google searching has become second nature for all our translators.
This set of complementary skills promotes the smooth management of your translation project through effective team communication, and helps us maintain high quality standards while keeping in close touch with you, our customer.

Technical Writing with International Credentials

BeTranslated associate Nathan approaches documentation as an essential complement to design, believing technical writing quality should be held to the same strict tolerances as any high-tech component. This view has been strengthened through his years in a rigorous engineering setting, and he has witnessed how good writing and an efficient publications process can improve project execution and customer satisfaction.

A veteran of large-scale projects for overseas clients, Nathan mastered the art of writing for audiences for whom English is a second or even third language. This taught clarity, precision, simplicity. Uncluttered English text leads to higher-quality translations into native languages, a significant advantage in any field as the BeTranslated translators will attest.
