Source text - Vietnamese Hôm nay tôi nói chuyện với các bạn trẻ tức là tôi nói với tôi 50 năm về trước. Khi nói chuyện với các bạn trẻ thì tôi nhớ lại rằng khi tôi 20 tuổi, tôi nghĩ như thế nào, tình cờ theo cách gì, tôi đọc sách báo, nghe thầy/cô giảng thì tôi nghĩ gì? Hôm nay có một bước lùi 50 năm của đời tôi, nói chuyện với các bạn khiến tôi phải hình dung như tôi nói với chính tôi trước đây 50 năm. Nói như thế thì mình khởi đầu hơi xa một chút, bởi nếu không thế các bạn trẻ sẽ không hiểu được khi đọc cuốn “Tư duy kinh tế” của tôi. Những người lớn hiểu, các bạn trẻ tôi chắc sẽ chưa hiểu được mục đích là tại sao thế hệ trước lại có nhiều cái huý kỵ như thế, lại sùng bái một số lý thuyết như kế hoạch hoá tập trung, công hữu xã hội chủ nghĩa, tại sao các cụ già mình lẩm cẩm thế, các bạn sẽ đặt câu hỏi là công xã mình tồi quá nhỉ? Tôi muốn nói để các bạn hiểu thế hệ đó không tồi và nếu không có người giải thích, các bạn trẻ sẽ hiểu mấy ông già này cuồng tín quá.

Translation - English Talking to the youth of today means nothing but carrying a conversation with myself of 50 years ago. When I talk to the youngsters I remember how my 20-year-old self thought about something I came across on books or taught by teachers. Today I make a 50-year leap as talking to you makes me picture a conversation with myself at 50 years ago. That being said, we are starting a little too far back in time, however this is necessary for youngsters to be able to read and understand my book - “Economic reflection” (originally titled “Tư duy kinh tế”). Unlike the elders, I don’t think the youngsters could understand why previous generations had so many taboos, worshiped theories like planned economy, nationalization, why the elders were so senseless. You will wonder why our commune was so awful. I want you to understand that generation wasn’t bad and if there isn’t anyone here to explain to you, you may look at us elders as extremists.
