Coming from a long line of diplomats (great grandfather, grandfather, father) I have travelled, and lived abroad, since the day I was born until I was eighteen. My dad was Italian, my mother was Spanish, and the first language I spoke was English. Except for 3 years spent in Rome, all of my schooling was in English (Glasgow, Detroit, British Embassy in Budapest, Edinburgh). In 1972, I obtained the Scottish Certificate of Education.
