Source text - English The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency is responsible for developing an environmental threshold carrying capacity for the region around Lake Tahoe. Its objective revolves around the sustainability idea, trying to find a middle ground between environment protection, economic interests and social well-being. It is safe to affirm that in some level the TRPA does help the Tahoe area, it is notable the low air and water pollution, as well as the still preserved green area.
On the other hand, one of the main goals of the TRPA was to develop a transportation plan. That doesn’t seem to have been accomplished, because the dependence of automobiles on the region is still quite large. There are few or none affordable public transportation to bigger cities around the area. Even though there are cheap transportation to places around the lake, to cities like Reno, Carson City and other bigger cities is expensive. On the long-term, the local population would rather buy a car than depend on public transportation.

Seu objetivo gira em torno da ideia da sustentabilidade, buscando encontrar o equilíbrio entre a proteção ambiental, interesses econômicos e o bem-estar social. É possível afirmar que a agência de certa forma beneficia a região do Lake Tahoe, já que é notável a baixa poluição do ar e da água, além da vegetação ainda preservada.
Ao mesmo tempo, um dos principais objetivos da agência é desenvolver um plano de transporte. Esta meta, no entanto, não parece ter sido atingida, uma vez que a dependência por carros na região ainda é significativa. São poucas ou não existentes as opções de transporte público acessível para maiores cidades ao redor desta área. Source text - English “What do airport runways and your hair have in common? More than you think! The same ingredient that is in most shampoos is also used to de-ice airport runways. That is not all. Ethylene glycol is also utilized ‘in the formulations of printers’ inks, stamp pad inks, and inks for ballpoint pens…’ to name but a few. So what is the health impact of using an industrial product on your hair, which you will no doubt inhale? According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), short-term exposure to this chemical ‘causes three stages of health effects: central nervous system (CNS) depression, followed by cardiopulmonary effects, and later renal damage.’
This is one toxic ingredient in one personal care product that has on average, 25 ingredients. So imagine if you were to measure the health impact of all the products you use daily and considered their ingredients. There are many reports that state by the time a woman leaves her house in the morning, she would have been exposed to (on average) 168 chemicals.”
