Source text - English Each day as an entrepreneur and CEO varies. Some days are difficult and challenging, and you wonder why you bother. And other days, when the technology works seamlessly and you have a glimmer of hope from a potential investor, customer or business agreement, my optimistic and more dominant side takes over, and the day can be truly satisfying. What’s certain is that on a personal level, I am growing in terms of my understanding of business, and my understanding of the world. This is all part of the entrepreneurial journey I assume – actually, I’m only really familiar with my journey. Everyone must experience their own individual journey.

My name is Dong Yuan (AKA Claire Davie) and I am from Mainland China which makes me a Native Chinese speaker. From a very young age I had a passion for the English language which ultimately led me to the path of translation. I started studying for my BA in English translation from Wei’nan University in China and my MA in translation studies from University of Leicester in the UK to achieve my dreams. After obtaining my degrees I quickly pursued careers which utilised my translation skills, helping me to build a professional portfolio.
Following my graduation from University of Leicester and obtaining my MA, I am a fully qualified translator. During this time I learnt many different techniques and an in-depth insight into the professional world of translation which I still use today.
Teaching English to Chinese students is one of the jobs I pursued whilst living in China. I found that learning English from University is one thing, but having to explain your teachings to others makes you understand and develop the techniques and theories used to a whole other level.
I first started my freelancing career in 2018 and currently have over 5 years’ experience in the translation industry. My main specialisations include travel and tourism, marketing, media, business communications and website translation. To date I have completed over 385 translation and subtitling tasks as a Freelancer with many more in the pipeline.
If you think I could be of any help to you, please feel free to leave me a message.
Claire.
