I have shaped my academic life in order to one day become a translator. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Language and Cultural Mediation from the University of Milan, and a Master's Degree in Translation (English-Italian) from the University of Bristol. Since before obtaining the aforementioned degrees, I have done translations of short stories for my friends to publish online, using OmegaT (at the time, opensourced software were the only option for me) and learning through self-teaching how to use CAT tools. During my Master's, I have learnt how to use Memesource and Trados, and for my dissertation I have translated into Italian the first 20 pages of 'Carpe Jugulum', a Terry Pratchett's novel, while during the year we concentrated on newspaper articles of various nature and reports for the EU of legal nature. During the years, I have translated diplomas, report cards, and legal documents for the The English School of Turin (TEST), a private language school in Turin, Italy. At the same time, I have started working with The FizzBang Beverage Company Ltd as translator and consultant in matter regarding the communication between the British company and their supplier, which is an Italian company. I have also translated Twitter hashtags for the charity Naturewatch, as part of one of their online campaign.
I sounds like a meager resume, but I do hope to improve it by finding additional work on this platform. |
