Chap. 7 D.R.O.P. SYSTEM (Pump protection)
Pressure units, at request, can be supplied equipped with a protection system, called DROP (Drain Running Operation Protection) which protects hydraulic parts from possible damages which could be caused by overheating of the liquid inside the pump body.
Such overheating can take place owing to causes outside the pump or because the pump stops priming.
DROP system can be supplied either inserted inside the pump body or mounted on the outside. In both cases it consists of a special sensor mounted in contact with the pumped liquid and connected to the motor terminal board.
DROP system is reset using the switch located on the box holding the condenser.
Operation:
When the temperature of the liquid inside the pump body reaches 60-70C, DROP interrupts power supply to the motor, the pump stops and the light placed next to the switch goes on.
The pump can start again automatically only if the system cools and if voltage is disconnected and then connected again.
Restoring operation:
- put the switch on “O”, unplug the plug;
- remove the causes of malfunction;
- wait a few minutes, let the whole hydraulic part cool;
- put the switch on “I”, plug in the plug, the red light goes off and the pump starts again.
If the red light is always red, place the switch on “O”, unplug the plug and repeat start up operations after a few minutes.
The diagram of electrical connections is shown in Fig. 5.

Cap.7. Dispozitivul de protecţie D.R.O.P. (Protecţia pompei hidraulice)
La cerere, pompele pot fi prevăzute cu un dispozitiv de protecţie numit D.R.O.P. (protecţia prin operaţia de întrerupere a curentului) care protejează componentele hidraulice de eventualele defecţiuni ce pot apare ca urmare a supraîncălzirii lichidului din interiorul pompei.
O astfel de supraîncălzire poate apare din cauze externe sau pentru că pompa nu mai amorsează.
Dispozitivul de protecţie D.R.O.P. poate fi montat fie în interiorul pompei, fie în exteriorul ei. În ambele cazuri acesta dispune de un senzor aflat în contact atât cu lichidul pompat cât şi cu tabloul de comandă al motorului.
Dispozitivul de protecţie se activează folosind comutatorul de pe cutia în care se află condensatorul.
Funcţionare:
În momentul în care temperatura lichidului din interiorul pompei creşte la 60-70C, dispozitivul de protecţie D.R.O.P. întrerupe alimentarea motorului, pompa se opreşte, iar led-ul indicator aflat lângă comutator se aprinde.
Pompa va reîncepe să funcţioneze automat numai dacă dispozitivul se răceşte şi dacă alimentarea se întrerupe şi se cuplează din nou.
Defectarea pompei:
- puneţi comutatorul pe poziţia “O” şi întrerupeţi alimentarea cu curent a pompei;
- remediaţi defecţiunea;
- aşteptaţi câteva minute lăsând componentele hidraulice să se răcească;
- puneţi comutatorul pe poziţia “I” şi alimentaţi pompa cu curent; led-ul indicator de culoare roşie se va stinge şi pompa va reîncepe să funcţioneze;
Dacă led-ul indicator de culoare roşie rămâne aprins, puneţi comutatorul pe poziţia “O”, întrerupeţi alimentarea cu curent a pompei şi , după câteva minute, repetaţi operaţiunile de pornire.

DEBARKER OPERATION
4.1 PRODUCTION DEBARKING
Debarking performance depends on many factors. Some of the factors, which may affect debarking, are log species; log diameters; log lengths; log condition; log feeding efficiency and required debarker feed speed. Although these are not the only factors, which affect debarking performance, they are the most common. The following tips can help you get the maximum performance from your A7 Debarker.
LET US HELP! Nicholson has extensive experience in the specifics of almost any debarking application that exists, including frozen wood and problem species with very stringy bark like cedar, redwood and Eucalypti. Please contact our Service Department for help with your particular application.
4.1.1 LOG SPECIES:
Each log species has its own debarking profile. Experience will help you to determine the best knife tip, knife arm pressure, ring speed and feed speed for each species to get the optimum performance from your debarker. If you are debarking mixed species, try to run groups of the same species together.
4.1.2 LOG DIAMETERS:
If the range of diameters you are debarking varies dramatically, efficient debarking may become a bit more difficult. Usually, very large diameter logs require more debarking pressure than small diameter logs. Much of this affect can be taken care of by proper utilization of the knife arm discrete pressure system.
Great care must be taken when processing very small logs. Logs smaller than the minimum allowable log diameter will likely not be debarked and may get broken as they pass through the debarking ring.

4.1 EFICIENŢA PROCESULUI DE COJIRE
Procesul de cojire depinde de mai mulţi factori. Unii dintre aceştia, care afectează direct procesul cojirii sunt speciile lemnoase, diametrul buştenilor, starea buştenilor, eficienţa alimentării cu buştean şi viteza de avans. Deşi nu aceştia reprezintă totalitatea factorilor care influenţează procesul de cojire, ei sunt cei mai des întâlniţi. Următoarele recomandări vă pot ajuta să obţineţi performanţe cât mai bune în exploatarea maşinii dumneavoastră.

4.1.1 SPECIILE LEMNOASE
Fiecare specie de lemn are particularităţile ei în procesul de cojire. Experienţa vă va ajuta să stabiliţi cu precizie pentru fiecare specie lemnoasă în parte tipul plăcuţei tăietoare, valoarea forţei de apăsare din braţele port-cuţit, viteza rotorului şi viteza de avans. Dacă aveţi de cojit specii lemnoase diferite, încercaţi să grupaţi buştenii pe specii.
4.1.2 DIAMETRUL BUŞTEANULUI
Dacă diametrul buştenilor pe care-i aveţi de cojit variază sensibil, eficienţa cojirii poate fi afectată serios. În mod normal, buştenii mai groşi necesită o presiune a braţelor port-cuţit mai mare decât în cazul buştenilor subţiri. Multe din neajunsurile acestui fapt pot fi înlăturate prin utilizarea corespunzătoare a sistemului pneumatic de reglare discretă a forţei de apăsare.
Se va avea foarte mare grijă la prelucrarea buştenilor foarte subţiri. Buştenii cu diametrul mai mic decât cel minim acceptat nu vor putea fi cojiţi şi se pot rupe la trecerea prin rotorul cu cuţite.
