I used to translate from English, French, German, Russian and Italian into Dutch/Flemish. However, in order to free time for a new passion of the past few years, the Japanese language and the Japanese culture, I now limit my field of action to translating from English and French into Dutch/Flemish.

A firm believer in the native speaker theory, I do not normally translate into any other language than my mother tongue Dutch/Flemish.

Short Resume

26 years of experience in translation, 25 in computer programming.

During that time, I have worked a number of years (1992-1996) for DHL, the courier company. I worked at their main HUB of Brussels Airport in Belgium. I first wrote a computer program for them and was then hired: first as a gateway agent, later as a PC-trainer and manager of the training department.

I have also given PC-training at a large number of Belgian and European government agencies, different institutions, and at St. Louis, a small Brussels University:
  • Showing people how to use PC's and PC-programs
  • Computer programming classes for beginners and active programmers
  • Post-graduate computer programming master classes

It speaks for itself that in those years, I have written countless computer programs, including a non-negligible number of firsts. However, this site is about translation, not computer programming. If this interests you, please do feel free to contact me.

Translated

I firmly believe in discretion. However, if translations are published, there is not much to be discreet about. Therefore, I just mention a few of those:

  • Inside C# (ISBN 0-7356-1288-9) from English into Dutch.
  • JavaScript Pocket Reference (ISBN of the translation: 90-395-1645-6) from English into Dutch.
  • Jacques Méchin 1890-1969 (has no ISBN) from French into Dutch. This is a book about a Belgian (neo-)impressionist painter.

Rates

In order to avoid any misunderstandings: I take my work very seriously and every single word used in my translations and other texts is the result of thorough research. Hence, I am unable to provide translations at rock-bottom prices. Quality translations cost time and resources and these cost money.

That said, my rates are definitely far from outrageous. They represent what I need to be able to provide and to continue to provide the best translations one can hope to achieve.

My rates are mentioned below.

Please note that I charge a minimum of 45.00 USD. The minimum does not apply to instant jobs because there is no administrative overhead for these.

Also, please note that I do charge a surcharge for using Trados. The surcharge depends on the circumstances, but count on approximately 30% for most circumstances. Please contact me for more information.
