Onlinewerber haben eine neue Disziplin entdeckt: das Jammern. Vehement beklagen sie allerorten, dass User via Hilfsprogramm ihre Banner ausblenden und sie wirkungslos ins Netz-Nirwana schicken. Von Effizienz und Rentabilität der Web-Werbung kann da keine Rede sein. Genau hier schlummert jedoch ein Marketingpotenzial, das bis dato sträflich vernachlässigt wurde: die Zielgruppe der Werbehasser.
Seit geraumer Zeit sind sie im Kommen. Aufkleber „Bitte keine Werbung!“ prangten schon in den Siebzigern von den Briefkästen – zu einer Zeit, in der man das noch unbekannte World-Wide-Web bestenfalls für einen grenzüberschreitenden Höflichkeitsknigge gehalten hätte. Statt dessen entstand hier ein Kanal, der sich zur perfekten Marketingmaschine entwickelte. Diese gerät jedoch angesichts der hohen und hohlen Informationsflut, die tagtäglich nicht nur als Werbebanner auf den Bildschirm sondern in Form von „Spam“-Mails auch in den elektronischen Postfächern landet, zunehmend ins Stottern und verärgert die Kundschaft. In den USA ist jetzt sogar ein Gesetzesvorhaben auf dem Weg, dass das unlautere und unsittliche Werbetreiben – im Fachjargon Spam genannt – im Internet unterbinden soll.
Was des „Spammers“ Leid, kann sich an der Marketingfront jedoch als profitable Einnahmequelle erweisen: Denn jetzt rückt die global immer größer werdende Gemeinschaft jener, die den Datenmüll im Netz ablehnen, als Community ins Visier der werbungstreibenden Zunft. Und sie stellt eine elitäre Zielgruppe dar: Werbehasser sind moderne Individualisten, sie nehmen nicht alles widerspruchslos hin, was man ihnen vorsetzt. Sie sind intellektuell, sie lassen sich nicht durch simple Anmache beleidigen. Sie sind besserverdienend (siehe auch intellektuell), weil sie Billig-Offerten nicht nötig haben. Und sie sind mit ihrem anspruchsvollen Sendungsbewusstsein die besten Multiplikatoren, weil sie durch überzeugende Argumentation das Heer der ahnungslosen Werbekonsumenten stetig dezimieren.
Also gilt es, dieser „Adfree“-Community durch konzertiertes Online-Marketing gerecht zu werden. Die Erfolgsaussichten sind gut, denn nichts schweißt Menschen mehr zusammen als ein gemeinsames Feindbild. In die Praxis umgesetzt, heißt dies: Zunächst wird eine Internetplattform mit anspruchsvollem Individualisten-Feeling aufgebaut, die durch eine mehrfach zugangsgesicherte und datenbankgeschützte Userprofilverwaltung überzeugt. Auf der Homepage finden Werbehasser dann alles, was ihr verletzter Intellekt begehrt: Tools für die Ausblendung von Bannern, Anti-Spam-Programme oder Spammer-Listen mit Belohnungsmodellen für deren Ergänzung. In Chat-Foren, tauscht sich die Info-Elite über wirkungslose Werbung aus. „Against-Ad & Anti-Spam“-Merchandisingartikel (Caps, T-Shirts u.ä.) ergänzen das Angebot. Und im täglichen Newsletter sind die Erfolgsmeldungen über das Werben für ein werbefreies Internet nachzulesen. Jährliches Highlight könnte der „Stupid Ad“-Award sein, mit dem die Werbehasser die weltweit erbärmlichste „Anmache“ prämieren.
Der Break-even stellt sich bei solch einem Cross-Media-Marketing-Modell schnellstens ein, denn wir wissen: Werbehasser sind als Frequent User nicht nur gut betucht, sondern erfolgsorientiert und wollen ihre Botschaft schnellstens multiplizieren. Zumindest bis wieder die „More-Ad“-Community aktiv wird.

Advertising in Times of Spam
Online advertisers have discovered a new discipline: whining. They complain vehemently about users with utility programs that block their banners and dismiss them to the realm of cyberspace. Efficiency and investment return for Web advertising appears to be a joke. But precisely here lurks a marketing opportunity that has been criminally neglected to date: targeting people who hate advertising.
They have been around for a long time. "No advertising" stickers have adorned mailboxes since the seventies – at a time when the as yet unknown World Wide Web would, at best, have been considered to be no more than a cross-border tip of the hat. Instead, a channel was created that would evolve into the perfect marketing machine. This machine is, however, beginning to sputter as it angers consumers with its high-volume flood of shallow information that appears day in and day out; not only as advertising banners on their screens, but also in their email inboxes as spam. In the United States there is even legislation underway intended to stop the immoral and unfair flood of advertising known as spam.
But the spammers' pain could prove to be the marketers' gain - and a profitable source of revenue, because now, the ever-expanding global community that rejects Web junk mail is moving into the sights of the advertising trade. And it is an elite target group: advertising haters are modern individualists who won't blindly accept everything they are presented with. They are well educated and are not impressed by cheap come-ons. They earn above average salaries (see also well educated) and are not interested in bargains. And their sophisticated media awareness makes them the best multipliers, because they decimate the army of naïve ad-devotees with their convincing tirades about the emptiness of advertising.
So it is important to live up to the expectations of this ad-free community through focused online marketing. The prospects of success are good, because nothing unites people more than a common enemy. In practice, it translates into constructing an Internet platform with a sophisticated personalized interface that impresses users with the multilayered access and data security of its user profile administration. On the Home Page, ad-haters will find everything their wounded intellect craves: tools for banner blocking, anti-spam programs or spammer lists with associated completion reward programs. Chat forums are available to allow the knowledge elite to exchange opinions about useless advertising. Ad-block and Anti-spam promotional items (caps, T-shirts, etc.) complete the offering. And a daily newsletter tracks the success of advertising for an ad-free Internet. An annual event could be a "Stupidest Ad" prize, awarded by the advertising haters for the world's most pathetic come-on.
Break-even for such a cross-media marketing model will be achieved very quickly because we know that advertising haters are not only well-off, they are also achievers and want to spread their message as quickly as possible. At the latest, before the "more ads" community resurfaces.

...Der Typograph, erbaut von J.R. Rogers und F. E. Bright, besitzt dieselbe Leistungsfähigkeit wie die Monoline, welche von W. S. Scudder in Brooklyn erfunden wurde. Jede der beiden Maschinen erfordert zu ihrer Bedienung nur eine einzige Person und leistet dabei je nach derÜbung derselben und nach Beschaffenheit des Manuskriptes das Drei- bis Fünffache der Handarbeit. Der Typograph besteht im Wesentlichen aus einem schwenkbaren, mit Drähten überspannten Oberteil, einem Tastenbrett, einem Gießapparat, einem Schmelztiegel und einer drehbaren Ausschließwelle. Jeder Draht trägt am oberen Ende einen gewissen Vorrat von Matritzen je einer Buchstabensorte, die an ihm aufgehängt sind und beim Tastenanschlag durch ihre Schwere in richtiger Reihenfolge nach der Sammelstelle am anderen Ende herabgleiten. Eine besondere Taste dient zum Einfügen der Ausschlußstücke. Ist die Matritzezeile nahezu vollendet, erfolgt selbstthätig in einem Zeitraum von zwei bis drei Sekunden das Ausschließen, Abgießen und Ausstoßen der fertigen Druckzeile aus der Gießform. Darauf werden die Matritzen durch Zurückschlagen des Oberteiles abgelegt, Fig. 132, und da dieselben ihre Führungsdrähte niemals verlassen haben, kann dabei auch kein Fehler vorkommen. Das Stürzen und Zurückschalgen des Oberteiles erfordert nur wenige Sekunden und kann nach einiger Übung ganz mechanisch geschehen, sodaß der Setzer diese Zeit zum Weiterlesen des Manuskriptes benutzen kann. Von jeder einmal gesetzten Druckzeile können so viele Abgüsse gemacht werden, wie man will. Die Druckzeilen kommen nach dem Gebrauch wieder in den Schmelztiegel und können beliebig umgegossen werden. Der Typograph vereinigt damit somit die Arbeit des Schriftgießers und Setzers und erspart die Anschaffungs- und Ergänzungskosten des teuren Schriftmaterials.

The typograph built by J.R. Rogers and F.E. Bright has the same performance capabilities as the monoline, which was invented by W.S. Scudder in Brooklyn. Each machine is operated by one person, and depending on the individual's experience and the nature of the manuscript, the finished product is produced from three to five times faster than by hand composition. The typograph consists primarily of a swinging upper section over which wires are stretched, a keyboard, a casting apparatus, a melting crucible and a rotating justification shaft. The upper end of each wire holds a supply of matrices of one particular type of character, which slides down by gravity toward a location where it is assembled in the right order when a key is pressed. A special key is used to insert spaces. Once all the matrices have been assembled, the finished line is automatically justified, cast and ejected from the mold within two to three seconds. Immediately thereafter, the matrices, which have never left the guide wires and therefore cannot be stored incorrectly, are returned to their storage location by ramming back the upper section (see Fig. 132). Dropping the upper section and ramming it back takes only a few seconds and after a little practice becomes routine, which gives the typesetter time to continue reading the manuscript. Once a line has been set, the number of castings that can be made from it is unlimited. After the lines have been used, they are returned to the melting crucible and can be recast for use in a new line. The typograph therefore combines the work of the typecaster and typesetter and saves the cost of acquiring and supplementing expensive printing materials. |
