A Carbon Footprint is the measure of the impact of human activities on the environment in terms of tonnage of carbon dioxide (CO2) produced by an organization, product or individual.
Both carbon positive and carbon negative events have an impact on the overall greenhouse effect. Ideally, the goal is to become carbon neutral.
For many companies, the path to a smaller Carbon Footprint requires a combination of compensating for CO2 emissions through investments in carbon sequestration (planting cork forests, for example) and adopting carbon emissions prevention technologies that improve the efficiency of business transactions.

La huella de carbono es la medida del impacto de la actividad humana en el medio ambiente, expresada en el número toneladas de dióxido de carbono (CO2) que produce una organización, producto o individuo.
Tanto las acciones de emisión de carbono como las de reducción del mismo en la atmósfera tienen influencia en el efecto invernadero global. Lo ideal es obtener un resultado neutro de emisiones de carbono.
Para muchas compañías, la reducción de la huella de carbono exige una combinación de acciones para compensar las emisiones de CO2 mediante su captura (plantación de bosques de alcornoque, por ejemplo) y la adopción de tecnologías de prevención de emisiones de carbono, que mejoren la eficiencia de las actividades empresariales.
