I am a freelance technical translator since 1995. I am based in Spain and I deliver technical translations to agencies and direct clients in Europe and the USA. I do technical translations only. This makes me a very qualified translator in this specific field.

As a Marine Chief Engineer, I have a sound technical knowledge and a wide practical experience with a large variety of equipment, machinery and devices. (Please see below.)
When it comes to translating a highly technical manual it is not enough to be familiar with the relevant terminology. There is more to it than that. You need to actually understand how the machine or device works or you are bound to make mistakes. As an engineer myself I read lots of technical documentation and came across this situation many times. That is the reason why I decided some years ago to become a technical translator: My commitment is to provide accurate, reliable and highly specialised technical translations.

My experience is very comprehensive. Following list is just an indication:

General Electro-mechanical Equipment.
Oil & Gas, Piping, Pumps, Valves, Heat Exchangers, Filters.
HVAC, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning.
Steam Plants, Boilers, Turbines.
Diesel Engines, Gensets, Alternators.
Pneumatics and Hydraulics.
Cranes, Rigging Equipment,
Waste Disposal Systems, Sewage Systems. Water treatment.
Firefighting, Alarm Monitoring, Supervisory Systems,
PLCs, Controllers, Automation, Electronics.
IT, Communications, Hardware and Software.
Maintenance and Operation Programmes.
And many more.

Of course, writing skills are very important too. Please, feel free to contact me for a translation sample on your specific subject. If your text is technical I will probably have translated something similar before.
