I am British and grew up bilingually (English/German). During my training and up to the final examination in "Industrial Electronics" (City & Guilds of London Institute) in 1969, I worked for several industrial companies in England, amongst others Plessey and Perkin Elmer.
In 1970 I moved to Germany and worked one year at Bodenseewerk Perkin Elmer GmbH (analytical equipment), where I also started to use my languages.
In 1971 I changed to Withof GmbH (measurement & control equipment) in Kassel, where I worked in the documentation and marketing departments.
Withof GmbH was taken over by Philips (the Dutch one) in 1974.
In 1996, I started work as a freelance translator.
During the 25 years with Withof/Philips I acquired extensive and in-depth knowledge, especially in the areas of industrial measurement & control, process automation, and plastics processing.
At present I work for clients in the following branches:
Measurement & control technology, process automation, plastics processing, suppliers to the automotive industry, transport equipment, agricultural machines, materials handling, metal construction, etc.
