The European Commission declared the year 2008 to be the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue. On account of this, all EU member states undertook organised events whose objective was to bring closer the idea of intercultural dialogue and promote integration and cooperation of various cultural groups for the sake of facing the challenges exceeding national and ideological borders. The celebrations were aimed at respecting cultural diversity, promoting equal opportunities for all EU inhabitants, fighting discrimination and building partner relations among the Community states and their neighbours. |
