XXXX (OP/N)/XXXX plc (OP/N) shares have a "habit" of registering falls on quarterly trading updates and rallying strongly on the actual results. While it may not always be the case that the company beats guidance by a significant degree as it has done over the past year, the current relatively low rating--10% discount vs. our European food coverage--following the company's fourth-quarter trading update suggests a particularly attractive valuation. We continue to estimate underlying 19% EPS growth for 2002, and and XXXXX confirmed that this target remains firmly on track. Our 12-month price targets remain EUR76/727p. These targets are derived from DCF and sum-of-the-parts analyses, with risks including failure to execute group strategy successfully and worse-than-expected trading conditions.
| | English to Spanish: Morning call item from major investment bank into Spanish | Source text - English XXXX Above Estimates; While Positive, Maybe Largely in the Stock
Second-quarter results from XXXX Corp. (IL/N) were above expectations, reflecting a stabilization in the database market after two years of deteriorating fundamentals. EPS came in at $0.10 vs. our $0.09 estimate, and the operating margin was 34.4%. The database business was strong, but the applications business was weak (likely XXXX specific).
These results are likely a positive bellwether for the broader software group and tech sector for the December quarter. However, much of this already may be reflected in XXXXX’s stock. And with a seasonally stronger quarter having already been anticipated in the tech sector, investors may be resetting their horizons for the group to the upcoming seasonally slower March quarter and the geopolitical risks to the economy and the sector.
XXXXX is making structural changes to its North American sales force in the current quarter, which creates some execution risk, so we are keeping our estimates fairly conservative. We raised our fiscal-2003 EPS estimate to $0.41 from $0.39 and have initiated a fiscal-2004 estimate of $0.45. We continue to rate the sector Neutral and the stock In-Line.

In October 1995, the 1995 Stock Incentive Plan (the 1995 Plan) was approved by our Board of Directors. Under the terms of the 1995 Plan, the Board of Directors is authorized to grant incentive stock options, non-qualified stock options and restricted stock to officers, directors, employees or consultants. Prices for all options or stock granted under the 1995 Plan are determined by the Board of Directors. Option prices for incentive stock options are set at not less than the fair market value of the common stock at the date of grant. Options vest over periods determined by the Board of Directors, generally four years. Options are contingent upon continued employment with the Company and, unless otherwise specified, expire ten years from the date of grant. The Company has reserved 2,800,000 shares of its common stock for issuance under the 1995 Plan.
