About me
I began my career by taking courses in the Spanish language, translating, and Mexican culture at the Escuela para Extranjeros (now known as Centro de Enseñanza para Extranjeros - http://www.cepe.unam.mx/) at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). I obtained my bachelor's degree in psychology at the University of the Americas, Mexico City (http://www.udla.mx/htdocs/index.php). My work has focused on translating and interpreting, teaching English and Spanish, and business administration.

I have developed and promoted English, Spanish, French and Italian courses and supervised the teaching of English in companies and schools. For four years, I ran a language school in Manzanillo, Colima, Mexico, which provided English and Spanish courses for local residents and visitors. I lived in Mexico for over twenty years, and currently reside in Western New York State.

Most recently, I obtained the Bridging the Gap Professional Medical Interpreter Training Certificate, from Finger Lakes Migrant Health Care Project in Geneva, N.Y. This agency is licensed by the Cross Cultural Health Care Program in Seattle, Wa.

I am employed as Medical/Dental Coordinator and Parent Liaison by an agency serving the migrant farm worker population, and I teach Spanish to adult learners. While most of my free-lance translation and editing work is online, I also offer my interpreting services to local individuals and businesses.

My most competent areas are health and medical, psychology, education, teaching English and Spanish, ports and the shipping industry, legal, real estate, and cultural and diversity issues.
