About me

Hello.

I am a mechanical engineer with many years of technical and managerial experience in the oil, automotive, and the chemical industry. In my corporate years I held positions at a large local oil company, Exxon Chemical and Cummins Engine.

I became a translator in 1992 and was one of the first to apply the then new desktop publishing technology to translations. Even today, I rely on several advanced-technology tools and workflows in my job; they help me be precise, fast and reliable.

I have a deep and wide expertise in technical translations (English to Spanish). I have also translated many documents related to marketing for the automotive industry and for many other products.

I am profesionally involved in automotive technology, digital pre-press and computing, but can handle almost anything within tech fields. I have a wide, wide range of personal interests.

In addition to my capabilities as a technically-oriented professional, I have an excellent command of pop and classical culture. I'm a trivia expert, and keen on wordplay in both languages.

I am also highly capable and experienced in the translation and subtitling of TV programs. My wide knowledge of pop culture both in English and Spanish allows me to understand and capture the nuances common in many movies and TV series dialogs.

Can work from printed books or from computer files. Can handle most source files and have a deep understanding of pre-press and printing.

I have done hundreds of printed technical manuals, involving text and images. These include owner's manuals, service manuals and service administration manuals. Hundreds of TV programs, for The History Channel, A&E and others.
